As I said before, I talked directly to the reps from All-Glass, person to person. I was told in no uncertain terms that the Tech is front starphire ONLY. Believe what you want!!

I am doing a mixed reef with mostly SPS. Trying to get away from having power heads in the tank. I may do a CL by going over the top. Use something like a mag 18 or one of the Rio hyper flows if the will run out of water. I know that a lot of people slam the Rio's but I had a 3100 run for 5 years and the Hyperflow 17 I have in my tank now is 3 1/2 years old. The impeller in the Hyper flow is very similar to the high output pumps I worked with when I ran a waste water treatment plant, only plastic and the power useage is much better than the other pumps I have seen.

there are differing opinions, but from my personal experience, it appears to be 3 sides of starphire.

here is a pic of my tank when I had it sitting on the floor. the left is the front, the right is the left side of the tank...... notice how green the bottom looks.... It think it's 3 sided from these pics...

I'd love to do a closed loop in that tank. You'd have to drill the glass though from what I've been hearing.

you could run plumbing over the back for the intake and returns.

That wouldn't give much flow though right? Do you know how much flow you get from the return? I'm guessing around 1200 if that. Please let me know. If I did do the return different, I think I'd use a wavy sea or sea swirl.

the returns are rated @ 600gph each. I think 4 vortechs would be sweet. nothing like 100x turnover in a 120. :D

yup that would be very sweet. =) I wonder what all the controller features are going to have on it? I need 1 more.

I see PFO is putting out another type of led system. It's called Galileo. Have you heard about it? I wonder what's the difference between that and the Solaris. I can't wait to see some of your SPS grow under it. That will be exciting.

there wireless one (whenever it comes out) is suppose to control up to 10. or that's what I heard a few months ago.

That certainly looks like Starphire on 3 sides with regular glass on the bottom. So, the Ultimate series is Starphire front only? Is there any difference between the Ultimate series and the Tech series? Assuming if it is less panes of Staphire glass only, would assume that it is less expensive.

When I posted on the icecap forum they said a controller was going to be able to create a pulsing movement. So that would kind of give a wave. I just would like to add some random current as well. Larry did you get your vortech fixed? How do you like their flow? I think it's pretty awesome!

I need to send the wet side to Icecap. I plan on doing that this weekend. I was pretty please when we put one in my LFS's 150g display tank. you could see the fish loved it, and it was blowing things everywhere at full speed.

I just ordered a 45 Tech due in next week to upgrade my 4 year old 7g minibow. I also bought a 15H for the sump..and have a couple of questions:

1. Is the overflow on the 45 rated at 600gph too?

2. Any suggestions for a return pump and skimmer?

3. Does anyone with a 15H have a good sump design? I'd like to incorporate some fuge or dsb in the sump...but the space is limited.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to get a solaris light and vortech ph.

1 yes it is
2. i use a mag 5 and ccs super skimmer but if i did it again H&S 110 or tunze 9005(small footprint)
3. i could draw one for you once you decided the skimmer as you need to fit it. mines prity simple though if you want to see that

solaris should be sweet and vortech will have alot of flow. i use 2x nano streams so a vortech should really push the water around

I posted pic in this thread of my 45 tech and i just recently added a vortech. More so testing it for 200plus tank when i set it up. In the 45 it has alot of flow and i have it adjusted all the way down. If you turn it up any your fish (if you have any) will not have much of a chance because of limited swimming room. I wanted it onthe back but i have to many things hanging back there so it on the left side towards front top corner now.

I'll be selling my 45 setup as soon as i get 200plus going so if anyone has interest PM me and i'll let ya know when i do !

Keith
