Puff, I'm sorry but I don't understand what you mean. I was thinking of using 2 of the overflow holes for the drain to the sump, then the other 2 for the closed loop. Return would be on a sea swirl and the closed loop would be on a sea swirl as well. I didn't know if it would work to use the 2 overflow holes as a closed loop. I hope that makes sense.

Here are some high-res pictures of the plumbing on my Tech120. I had a great guy from one of my LFS store come over and help me plum it all up.

That's so funny, I saw the first picture and I figured you were from Houston. My equipment is plumbed similarly. I just bought the PM equipment from the oceanic tech 90 display that survived the fire ad the Dallas fish gallery. I've got the stand with smoke and water damage in my garage and all the PM equipment, pretty much the same as yours but with a beckett skimmer and iwaki pump. I had it up and running last night, but I decided that it needed more cleaning so I disassembled everything. I'm a little worried about those nylon screws that hold the skimmer body to the base though. I'm afraid I might strip them when I put them back in. I'm more worried about stripping the skimmer base holes than the screws themselves. Anyway. That looks like a pretty nice setup. I'm sure my 72 bow will be similar when I'm done.

I am talking about using the holes in the 4 holes in the Eurobrace in the back of the tank for the closed loop. I am using all 4 of the overflow holes as drains and running 2 pumps back to the tank. I am using the 4 holes in the back of the tank as returns. The closed loop would go out one pair of holes in the top of the tank and return thru the other holes. Let me know if this helps.

cstires,

I really like that top canapy you built, i may want to make one for my tank at some time. What materials did you use? wood?

Here are some pictures of my 120g Oceanic Tec. Its been up and running for about 1 year now and I'm currently upgrading.

It is a SPS dominated reef tank with some LPS and Clams. I have 18 fish, a 40g Sump, ASM G4 skimmer, 2 phosban reactors, Litermeter 3. For flow I have a dart return pump and two tunze 6101's in deco rocks hidden in the rock work. I had Outer Orbit 2x150, PC light fixture. Good but now I am on the Solaris band wagon and loving it.

FTS from about 5 months ago. Since then I have sold most of the leathers or fraged them down alot and have purchased a significant number of SPS corals. Unfortunately I don't have any updated FTS with my old lighting.

Here's my new 45 Tech just filled yesterday.

Oceansmotions 2-way wavemaker on return (plumbed through top bracing)
Custom sump w/ refugium (www.acrylicsumps.com)
Tunze return pump
Tunze 9010 skimmer
Tunze 6025 nanostream

Very nice. What is the herbie method? I know it's supposed to make the tank quiet, but can you give me a link to how and more info? I just heard about this last night. TY. =) Beautiful tank.

OK I have a question about this Herbie method. BTW I my tank is in!

the 120 has 2 600gph returns. I have ordered a sedra 1200 return. 1200 gph - head loss. I assume with the Herbie method your primarily using only 1 drain, with the other as a backup? So with head loss, you dont want anymore than a 600 gph return?

BTW tank looks awesome, only front panel is Starphire, and the stand is a bit flimsy, overall I'm stoked though.

The drains are capable of handling quite a bit more. I'm using a Sequence Barracuda and the drains are working just fine.
