Anyone have the 90g tech in cherry with the tech cherry stand?

Im curious of how large the cabinet is on the inside and how big of a sump could I get in there. The website says nothing about stands. That Pet Place sells the package for 1000 for the tech tank and stand in cherry.

How bout the 70 also. 70 with stand is 800.

Does anyone use a canopy for these?

I have a megaflow 3 sump in my tech 70 stand. It fits with not much room for anything else. I'm devising ways to add shelves inside and on the sides as it will be quite easy. The megaflow 2 would also fit, slightly longer but not as wide.
I got tank and stand in stainless steel silver, with megaflow3 for $880.

Great deal, was this an LFS? If so, I might have to come down to Maryland!

Im looking to do a sump with skimmer and fuge. Im not really looking to do a traditional sump with mechanical flitration.

Yeah, they had one on the shop floor, special sale. Actually, the tank and stand were only $500 but that price was only good with the addition of a sump. It's a bit of a gotcha, as their usual prices are sky high, but when you buy a tank you also get 20% off accessories, so all in all it turned out to be a pretty good deal.
I'm placing it next to some stainless steel stuff, so it's going to look sweet. I would have prefered a different sump, but this one will do for the time being. I'm already looking at customizing it somehow, I guess I could always get something else but at the moment my budget seems to be ever-expanding as it is!

by the way, I noticed that the same store had a black tech 70 + stand in their store room, so maybe they'll do the same sort of deal. They said mine was a one-off deal, but there were quite a few deals around.
PM me if you want any more info.
They have Biocube 8's for $99 at the moment also and I'm sure there's a rebate from Oceanic still running. SOOOoo tempting, I love my biocube, but the wife vetoed it.

I'm setting up a 70g. So far I've been recommended an Eheim 1250 or Oceanrunner pumps.
I'm not sure on a skimmer yet either. I want one that's not going to over-skim and one that's quiet.

I was looking at those 2 pumps as well, but not quite sure what i need. I am planning on using a om 2way on the return through the eurobracing.

I ordered the 70 cherry and stand today. I bit the bullet! Thanks for the answers mdbrit!

I am thinking the eheim 1262 for return and if its too much using a ball valve to control it.

As for skimmers I thought at first I wanted to do the EuroReef RS100. Depending on how I design my fuge, I might have to do the tunze 9010 since it has such a tiny footprint. Since the stand is 37" I was looking at either making a custom sump with a std 29g 30x14 or using this:
http://www.aquacave.com/detail.aspx?ID=1049

Any suggestions?

I saw that sump/fuge, it looks pretty good.
I am doing a hang-on fuge at the moment and the stuff grows like crazy, so I'm sure it's a good idea.
My tank deal was dependent upon getting the megaflow, so at least for the time being I don't have that option. My budget has already sky-rocketed, even with the original deal.
I ordered a 6x39w Tek light by sunlight supply today. It seemed like the best overall fit. I really like the MH shimmer, but the heat and running costs put me off. Also, I like how you can play with the lamp combo's to get the coloration you like.
I just have to work out the plumbing I think and then I'll get the Eheim, but the 1250, I'm sure it's enough flow.
A PS I need to decide upon still.
Oh, also got a new RO/DI system from filterguys as my old ebay one needs an upgrade. Now I'll have auto-shut off (I can never remember) PSI meter, TDS meter, etc.
I also want to get going with ordering some shelf live-rock as the tank's tall and I want lots of levels/caves etc.
Shame I have to go to work each day, it's most inconvenient to my reef building! My clowns are going to love their new home though.

I'm pretty sure I'm getting the tek 6 bulb also. I am a little intrigued at the moment by the nova extreme pro, since it is also 6 bulbs and comes with bulbs for 300. I still think I want the Tek, but I'm in limbo.

Tank will be in Friday. I want the other components first as I plan to cure the lr and get the fuge going before I purchase my lighting. I plan to cycle for 3 weeks with no light.

hey Md, I just read through your post in the t5 thread, you said the opening at the top is 12", but the 6 bulb tek is 15" wide. How are you going to make that work?

I've got a 48" 6 bulb Tek Light for my 120 Tech tank, which I would imagine has a similar width to the 36" 6 bulb model. Although the fixture is 15" wide, there's about 2" of metal on each side of the lamps. The actual bulbs and reflectors are only 11" wide.
I do have a question for all you Tek users, how do you mount the legs on top of your Tech Tanks? When I purchased my fixture used, the legs appeared to be set up to rest on the inside rim of the tank. However, the Tech's Euro bracing prevents me from resting the legs on the inside rim. I'm weary of putting all the weight directly on the Euro bracing, but I don't really see an alternative.

Yeah, same as Donk. Basically it said 12inches wide but if you look at the fixture, I figured there was quite a bit of overhang and the bulbs would fit nicely.
Other fixtures like the outer orbit 2x150MH would have been a problem as the two outside T5s would have been right over the overhang and thrown big shadows I'm sure.
I actually ordered the acrylic shield too, which told me how wide the bulbs were.
I can't wait to get it all going!

The acrylic shield is 11.8W - perfect!
The mounting legs look like they'll just fit over the side as far as I could see. I'll let you know.

Hi all sweet thread I am a proud owner of a 120 tech series as well.I will post some pics tomorrow.Just remeber all building there own stands for these tanks as the lifetime warranty is only good if you use there stand always.I was going to build my own stand until i saw that on the warranty card.Great thread,Chris
