looks like more... hard to tell without know how big the tank is.

sick looking wave. Sure 4 wave box pumps was enough? :D

J did you drop a Maguro... Isn't that what they call your...

never mind. :D

 Well, I will have 4 or 6 of them on my next tank.

jonathan, have you made a decision on materials and mfr for your next "earthquake and vortech resistant" tank?

nope. still in the design phase. I have very little time to test materials like bonding starfire to acrylic. And I am also thinking about a carbon fiber tank. So lots to do in the next few months in terms of developing a tank that will meet my needs and survive an earthquake. I am looking forward to it, but I must take my time.

superb! I guess you get the credit of building the first "Wave Tank"? That looks exactly how mine is designed, although I will have a few more boxes. :D

So is the tank built extra stout? What else can you share about it? And thanks for posting that for me to see.

Jon, how big is the new tank? I don't know how you plan to control 6 wave boxes. I hope you will figure out the way to control all 6. If my tank was not peninsula, i will build a few more boxes and put my stream in and hide the pump.

whats the purpose of wave box vs close loop.?

No extra holes in the tank, plumbing, high energy consuming pumps. Less possible failure points.

Wave box and CL each served different purpose. CL is for directional flow. Wave box is just wave motion without directional flow. Does it make any sense

That's a great wave! But that has to take a sever toll on the structure of any jointed tank. Man! That's a lot of water movement!

J, if you're going with 4-6 of those, you may need a serious fiber tank with starfire viewing panels just to hold together!!! :D

Have you seen the fiberglass tank being assembled in Israel? The construction may interest you.

Yeah, i saw that tank. Very nice build... I wish i can find someone who willing to do such project for me.

Jon, i will hit you up for the builder info for future use

same size tank: 8' x 5' x 35"...could change but that's what I am planning on right now. Thanks for the link Bax. I will give that a read. That's a great looking tank but a little thin IMO for wave movement. If I were to build a carbon fiber (or even fiberglass) tank, it would be built on 1" material.

Another thing I like about that build is coming over the top with the return line. That is certainly how I plan to do it as well.

I know I won't "need" 6, but I would like to have 2 on each end and 2 - 3 on the back. That's why the design stage will take so long. I do need to experiment. I have a theory that properly controlled pumps could create a variety of flow patterns including a gyre.

Sopmeone asked about controlling 6 and I will probably use the AquaSurf to do so. And I have an idea to be able to direct the flow as well using a sort of ball & socket mounting system. It could even be automated! :D

[/QUOTE] o how much less energy do they save i have 4 maxi jett mod with 6400 gallon with 38 watts on all four 9.5 each given its not close loop but i try to save enough energy i even downgrade one of my 400 watts to 250
