OK! Enough chat...Starting a 1000g+ Reef

Well, Sherman and I had the Last Supper tonight, along with some crazy smoked salmon dip he made, beer, and vodka. La Chaim!

Catching fish?

Uh oh...

Actually we did not find anything too disturbing. Maybe 10 bristleworms 2 - 3" long, and this claw. Not too bad since the rock came directly into the tank with no "curing".

Video Montage. I did not get much since we were so busy!

BTW, super good news that the ABT and friends arrived safe and sound. I cannot express how happy I am about that. :D

Wow..I guess will just have to wait until your next setup. Hope your doing better. Are you already planning the new system or really just gonna take a few months break? At least you new electric bill will be nice. Your power company might send some one to make sure the meter is still working. eheheheheh

Yeah, not too bad considering how wound up I was for the last week.

Eric, I have learned a great deal from this project and have some very definitive ideas about how I would build another system, but I do plan to take a real break. Maybe a couple of years to deal with business, house, family, etc.

I have literally been out-of-wack for so long, there is a mountain of things I need to get to. Not having to maintain the tank will allow me more time for that, as well as excercise, etc.

What do they say, "The best two days of yacht ownership are the day you buy it and the day you sell it,"?

Not really the same here of course, but I am just glad that my fish and corals all went to good homes. And my power co. was ripping me off anyway.

End of an era. Sad to see. :(

When do you think you'll be attempting this again? How about maybe a 180 - something nice and shallow for easy cleaning, bare bottom, lots of automation? You should be able to take all of what you learned and build a pretty slick system.

Hey Laurence!

I am guessing a couple of years before I build another large system. Until then, I will be reef-free. I still have a 40g frag running while a friend gets done with a cycle. Then that will be shut down. I also have a 70g Tall FW Planted tank in the dining room I will keep. It runs itself. I will probably go from sugar & yeast to CO2 though, since I have the equipment to do so.

J - I have already gotten things done, like replaced a spigot on my shop that has been broken for years, planted the front yard, mowed the front yard, replaced the flat tire on my wheel barrow that had been flat for 2 years....but the tank room is starting to smell, so it's back down there today.

I need to finish vacuuming the display, remove the water from the sumps and RDSB, and start taking down equipment. Wish you were here! :D

Quick note: Tank is still there. I pulled the sand out of the RDSB today, and started breaking down som estuff. I have just had so much to do lately, and with the "rents" hee ofr two weeks, just haven't gotten to it.

done deal. It was a nice visit considering it was 2 weeks. You can easily see the effect an Orkney Skull Splitter has on my typing skills!

Wow! When you run out of things to do, my house has plenty!

I'm happy to hear that everything made it safetly into their new homes!

Thanks Catherine. I am still following your saga as well! The problem here,m is that with all my health issues, tank stuff, business, etc. things have really piled up. Literally. I just can't keep up.
