Old coral pieces

My friend had a tank running 13 years ago and had dead coral for decoration. He is trying to sell his tank and thinks the coral he bought way back when is worth something. I've tried to explain that nowadays live rock is used. Is there anyone using the old coral anymore. Sorry if this is not the right forum!

If they are BIG pieces of dead coral, as in at least 6" or a foot big, they might sell for more as decorations on ebay. Some nice big dead corals sell for a lot of money.

Smaller pieces aren't hardly worth anything.

Like other have said, if it big then selling for decor might be feasible. Personally, I'd just use it as an extra home for bacteria in my sump, or used sparingly in my tank. So like billdogg said, proly $2/pound.

That or tell him keep it, bleach it, and ebay it. But as live rock, nada. If it's dry it's not live, and if it's wet it's probably and algaed mess.
