Oldude's Little Reef on the Prairie

Turned the pumps off and spent a little time reflecting on my reef today.

Love it! Keep up the good work, sir.:love2:

WOW, love this shot!

This has to be one of the sickest shots I have ever seen. Amazing. Simply amazing.

Thanks very much you guys - much appreciated. I am glad you liked the reflection shot. Funny I'm having some challenges taking the surface reflection shots in this newest rendition of my reef because the rock is lower than before and since most of the corals are still pretty short there is a lot of area between the surface and the corals so the angle needs to be greater to get both up & down in the picture so I am not showing as much reef in the shot as I had hoped.

Oh sorry, I think its 284, the colony looks massive!

Interesting you are asking about that piece - I lost most of it a little while ago but it was about 9 inches across. Not sure what happened to it - I was away with work when it RTN'd.

It's a crazy upside down world
Reflection in this shot is blurry due to a fish that made ripples on the top but I still like the shot - kind of abstract

This picture is 100% reflection off the surface - kind of interesting

A bit of a different angle from the first one

Decided I was overdue for a back glass cleaning - Big job so I only did the right hand side so far. Anyway here is a crappy FTS just to show how different the tank will look.

Greg thanks again for the privilege of seeing this amazing tank in person yesterday. Even better than the pictures if that's possible!

aww sucks, but judging by everything else, I think its safe to say that its not your husbandry :D

mine is still growing at the tip, but it is still having deadspots at the base

Cleaning the back glass wouldnt have made a difference. Your tank still will be amazing.
Thanks Wayne - my wife told me she likes it better with the back glass dirty, says it looks more natural with the coralline but I like the depth the blue background gives.

Thanks Darryl, very kind of you to say that. In the future don't wait so long between visits. :smokin:

I've come to expect I'll suffer some losses whenever I go away. Some hurt more than others.

Thanks, what fish do you have that are polyp nippers?

My SPS grows well, but I get far better polyp extension in the frag tank than in the display (they are connected) so I've largely concluded that something in the latter is a nipper. Probably the Potters or Flame angels, though a couple of my Tangs may be involved too. It's trade-offs, I suppose, but some of your corals are spectacular - well photographed too!
