Tagging along as i want to know other people's experiences, as i wanted to get a regal angelfish but don't know their live stock quality.

Fish come from tropical fish international or CIS holdings in Southern California. Not sure when they plan of changing over to QM like LA uses. The places they use for fish have a 2 weeks guarantee and more times than not people are happy with what they get for the most part. Two years ago a buddy ordered a Red Sea regal from Petco/tropical fish international and received a indo regal. He called tropical fish international about it and they sent him out a Red Sea regal free of charge.

I have only oredered from them once. I ordered 3 pyramid butterflies and all three arrived very healthy. They all sailed through QT with no problems and live happily in my tank. I would order from them again if they had something I wanted I couldn't find elsewhere. LA/DD and NY Aquatic are still my go to places though.

I ordered 9 lyretail anthias from them, and they all arrived in great condition,no problem at all, bellies where fat, and they were swimming out and eating frozen brine and mini fish eggs, within 2 days
Dmorty hit the nail on the head, the fish are drop shipped from a wholesaler so in reality those fish never touch petco hands. Also, don't forget that petco now owns Dr. Foster and Smith and therefore LA. I also agree with OrionN Petco quality is completely based on the individual store, they use quality marine, ORA, A & M aquatics, and local wholesalers just like your LFS for fish.
I ended up buying a few wrasses and corals from them. I was going to buy from somewhere else but that 30 day money back guarantee is the best around. Which might come in handy with putting the wrasses through QT, probably tank transfer and prazipro.

30 day guarantee is fantastic. Say the fish dies in QT, what do they need in proof to make sure you did everything right? How do they know that the fault is not that of the buyer?
Not sure, they may ask a few questions and need a picture of the fish. The guarantee is only for when buying it through their online site I believe.

I bought my purple tang, adult emperor angel, powder blue tang and midas blenny from Petco online over 18 months ago. The fish arrived healthy, I quarantined them correctly, and they are living happily in my DT's. I would buy from them again.

overall good, if you can catch a sale its worth it too. I have had some deaths, but they shipped out replacement asap and def worth it. Also everything ive got is larger than stated. If it works out price wise its worth a shot.
