ORA Pearlberry question

Do these things like ultra high or just high light? I bought a frag a couple weeks ago along with a tricolor valida and verde. They all looked pale probably because of shipping but a couple of weeks later the valida and verde are showing their color. The pearlberry on the other hand is still coloring very slowly. I have the green base but the tips are a super faint purple. I have been thinking that maybe I should move it up more? Does pearlberry prefer a more intense light? My other ORA frags are showing their color except this one.

Lights are LED/T5.

Yep, even ORA lost their mother colony a couple years back and belive their trying again lol. Very touchy coral indeed.

I would move it up if you want more lighter body which I believe makes the purple tips look more pronounced. I got a small piece recently and it came from a MH tank and it was definitely lighter in colors. Now that could also be attributed to nutrient level etc. I have it midway under ATI sunpower and it's getting the light sheen green look to it on the body. Tips are still darker purple.

Mine came in from a super high light, 400w 12k I believe shallow tank and was striking. The tips were super colorful and the base stark white. In my tank it's in a lower light situation and the tips lost a lot of that pop but are still purple and the base is a light green, almost white but not really. It still looks great just different.

i have a frag coming from fellow member soon(reef lover) i have all t5 glad i found this thread i didn't know it was a touchy coral

I got a pearlberry frag about 3 weeks ago and it has started to encrust. Unfortunately the piece was totally tan when I got it so it is looking pretty crappy. It has gotten lighter but still no color. Its in high light and high flow seems to be liking it since it has really good PE all day/night.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I will move it up a bit to an area with more light and flow to see how it does. Right now my lighting is 4x24W T5 bulbs (2x ATI Actinic, 1x Coral+, and 1x Purple+) and 160W of LED (nanobox pucks with extra violet LED). My other corals have awesome color and are true to what you see on the ORA site so I have high hopes for the Pearlberry.

Mine is pretty high in my tank under T5s. As long as you acclimate it will do fine in higher light.

Here's a pic from a few months ago. It has grown a bit since.

Pearlberry looks awesome under high light My pearlberry is under 450 par and is doing well. I was under the impression that acropora Desalwii was a deeper water coral, my mistake. Any idea when you say high light what the par is.

Hi Below is a back up frag about 2" that I took Nov 2014 when I sold the mother and it has taken off. IMO this coral does best under T5 right around the 350 par mark. It hates leds and colors up nice under Radiums but grows very slow.

My former PB, RIP :(
Very sensitive but once it finds the right light and flow, it is one of the prettiest around. Lit under 250 watt radium halide and t5 supp.

I remember this pic from years back...your old tank was pretty awesome. Mind you the new tank is getting there.
