ORA Stuber stag

Nathan4Wvu

Do you like Phil Collins?
I picked this up on a group buy with the local LFS owner nearly 10 months ago and besides encrusting roughly .25 inches it hasn't grown or changed a bit. The other frags I got on the same order (ORA German blue digi and ORA green stylo) have more than doubled in size. Any ideas????? is it just that slow of a grower??????

It's located in the top left by the tunze.

Waters normal and all over corals look great and are growing great.

Stuber stags generally grow like a weed. Except for their blue growth tips, they remain rather drab and will eventually take up lots or "real estate" in your tank. In this case, the slow start may be caused by too much direct flow from your Tunze.

No the GSP is growing to the overflows and the rock sits up away from them. If it even thinks about jumping over it gets the old razor blade treatment.

I did think about it getting to much flow from the tunze but based on polyp movement it doesn't look like it.

Mine has to be my fastest growing acro. I think it puts on about half an inch a month. I have it in an area of medium flow about a foot under an 8x54 Watt t5 fixture. It's a very nice looking coral, the blue tips are long on mine.

the color on yours looks off to me and the corallites aren't very defined. Maybe it has gone kind of dormant. I would try snipping it in half to stimulate growth. Gluing the cut piece to a rock will let you see encrusting growth very quickly and sometimes breaking acros stimulates growth.

BTW I don't have too much experience with this acros I have only had it about 4 months, but here is a pic at about 2 months in my tank and all the non-brown is growth in that time frame:

I have thought about clipping it so I will try that tonight. It's only about 4 inches under the water directly under a 250watt mh.
