Orange shoulder tang changing colors

Has anyone had their orange shoulder tang turn back to their orangeish yellow color? I bought him in his color change phase and he has been grey for the first six months i've had him. Over the last 2 months he has turned back to yellow. He is about 8" with streamers.

that's quite a unique thing happening....fish changes sex,but changing from adult to juve. coloration is the first time i am hearing.....
i also have a orange shoulder of similar size.it usually stays with adult coloration,but change to whole body dark chocolate when feels threatened.....

Yeah mine too although I haven't seen him do it in awhile. He was pitch black for a few day when I added my lieutenant tang. He wasn't too happy with that decision at first.

May be it's just fading due to stress or it's not old enough for full adult coloration. I doubt it's "reversal" because even nature can't full Father Time.

I bought my OST at 3" with adult colors, after a few months of being in a big happy tank he turned bright yellow, and still is at 6". Had the same thing happen with a small white tail bristletooth reverting to juvie colors after some time in a stable environment.

Could this be more of a sexing issue than age? Adulthood is measured by years as you all know...unless they have Benjamin Button disease

I have seen a large adult orange shoulder that never changed to grey, it stayed yellow but had its streamers and a blue outlined orange shoulder. But never seen or heard of one change then change back
