Ordered a Gigantea from Live Aquaria. Advice wanted.

Sounds good the only thing I would change would be to put more intense lighting. Like a 400watt halide and supplement it with actinics 03. Sounds like you just got a bad gigantea so sorry for the loss.
S.GIGANTEA love intense lighting and warmer waters from my past experiences.
;-)

IME, 6 T5's (with ati or kz brand) is plenty of light to keep and grow gigantea. You just got a bad apple. However, LA has some new ones in stock now if you want to try again.

can you post any S.Giganteas that have survived under T5 lighting only? i would really like to see what the new lighting technology can do?
thanks for the information and if that is the case i will be changing my lighting :)

i just recently talked to the local owner of this S. Gig, it had been kept under T5's (currently under LeD's now though...) he's had it for roughly 4 years i beleive.

Not only survived, but thrive and the best gigantea in captivity I've seen.

MH is on its way out....So much heat....required so much energy...
I converted from 250w DE MH to LED and would never look back!

and btw, I always hear you say you can't find a gigantea ANYWHERE and you're desperate for one. LA has had this gigantea for awhile. I would jump on it if I were you.

There are many LEDs fixtures and DIY in the market. I would go with at least XP-G type LEDs. XM would be my choice.
I'm waiting for the great Italia to ship some of the XM e-Stripes so I can swap my current XP-G

This was an almost impossible task for me. But it finally worked out. I am even siked that it is a small one as they do better. I will post pictures as soon as I get it.thanks everyone for all the help with finding one.
