Ordered a Gigantea from Live Aquaria. Advice wanted.

Those are clearly veracue or bumps. I don't know what you tell you if you can't see it.

ThisIsMe did you know that Magnifica have verrucae?? It is one of their defining characteristics..

Those on gigantea look and are shaped much differently than what is pictured... You are highlighting the verrucae of H. Mag.

I never said that the anemone in the picture did not have verrucae.. I asked the question "have you ever seen a gig withough verrucae..?" because they are usually much more prominent... I hear on that they can bleach out, but they are usually still visible.. Anyway... This anemone looks H. Mag to me..

I'm not gonna sit here and argue with you. Yes, I do know what a Magnifica looks like. And I know what a very sick gigantea looks like also.
As I stated before, a very sick gigantea will not have the veracue be easily identified as the color can fade and the bumps are not that apparent.

I find that when keeping these guys healthy Iodide really makes the difference. U be surprised how much Iodide these guys will take in when they have it at adequate levels available to them. I believe they use it in order to make chemicals to keep them healthy similar to the way gorgonians do. Take your iodide to .08 and keep it there. Test daily to get a baseline of her iodide consumption. Remember your algae will also take in Iodide, especially some of the Caulerpa varieties. My largest Magnifica and her Caulerpa buddies were sucking in around .04 daily of iodide. But she was a monster 18" across.

I hear a lot of people use Salifert but since all I am looking for is a constant level of iodide I use Seachem. The results are consistent and If I ever run out of reference liquid they send it to u for no charge.
