Ordered my new lights...

Ive been debating over MH and T5 and decided to go the T5 route. I called up reefgeek and ordered an Icecap 4x54w T5 setup w/ 2 icecap 660s. I wish I could have gone w/ more bulbs but theres no room in my canopy. The setup should be here in a week or so... Im psyched!

Pics to come...

i know you could only fit 4 54 watters over the main part of the tank...but what about a 36, or 24 over the actual bowpart? it won't do much...but it'll deff help out, plus if you've got 2 icecap 660's then you've got enough to power it. just an idea.

u kno its guna be the longest week ever lol

I ordered 2 ATI Blue Plus, 1 UVL Super Actinic, and 1 Aquasun... I spoke w/ grim reefer from RC (T5 Guru) and thats what he recommended and Greg at Reefgeek suggested the same to get a bit of blue in my daytime setting and a nice deep blue in my morning/nighttime setting. I decided to go w/ 2 660 icecaps so that I can continue to do the morn/night effect and a full daylight effect (the original kit comes w/ one 660 ballast but then you can only have all 4 bulbs on at the same time).

Ill post pics when they arrive...

Ill also be selling my current setup 4x65 watt Sunpaq pc's when I put these T5s on.

Keith,
I would do that and put a smaller bulb on the flap of the canopy but it will be more of a pain than a gain. hey Keith dont forget my nice frag we spoke about... call my cell dude!!

Got that right! At least the Frag swap will distract me on Sunday but Monday/Tuesday are gonna be Killer since this wont get in til Weds probably.:rolleye1:

Well they are here!!!

With the help of O Agios (and the support of my loving wife) my lights are up and running!!!! WoW what a difference! Steve was such a great help and stayed late at my place til the bulbs were running. After he left my wife threw me a hand in picking up, organizing the cables, and re-installing the moonlights. Unfortunately Steve wasnt able to see the lights on the tank but it looks great. Tomorrow I plan on mounting the ballasts and fans to keep the bulbs cool.

I want to extend a huge thanks to Steve for all his help with this project... there really are some good people out there.

If anyone has been thinking about these lights you gotta check it out.:)

make sure u acclimate the tank to those lights...I melted most of my corals when I went from vho to t-5 because I didn't think they were that much stronger...just a heads up!

I got to go to your crib and check them out. Maybe I'll bring the wife so I can convince her to buy them for my birthday.

icecap 660's

icecap 660's

I have the same ballast icecap 660's.

Is there a way to put 4X80watts T5 on the icecap 660's?
What is the wattage limit?

the limit is 440w so techincally you can put 5 but idk how they are wired, but alot of people run 4 off one ballast. the reason he used 2 was to be able to turn on actinics and daylights seperately which is very nice compared to all or nothing

According to icecap, the 660 can only light 16 feet of bulb, regardless of wattage. I run 4x80 on a pair of icecap 430s over my tank.

This is what posted on reefgeek:

"Rated to run multiple combinations of up to 4 T5 fluorescent bulbs with a total wattage not exceeding 240 Watts"

Can this be a typo?

I would like to increase my T5 from 4x54watts to 4x80watts.

Has anyone tried this 4x80watts.on the 660 ballast?
