OT - Battery Backups

Now, I know what bothers me about this thread â€"œ it is not off topic at all!

I use a battery-operated B11 air pump, connected to the smallest APC UPS, with the air stone dropped into the display tank. When power goes out, the UPS will power the air stone, hopefully for hours, maybe days. When the UPS expires, first one ste, then another set of C batteries will keep the air stone circulating water, possibly for hours, maybe days…

Colin, you have a 40g tank, try moving water around with an airstone in my 220g, need alot of airstones and in my case D size batteries.

I have a 90 but I am not at home all the time. I would like to be able to go to work knowing that my tank will be ok.

of course but with a larger tank you can't use an air stone is all that is being said in the last 2 posts you have to use powerheads or return pump

Roger

on a larger tank, I would plug the smallest powerhead, near the surface of the water, into the UPS, so you move the water surface around as much as possible for as long as possible,

an inverter or generator is not un-reasonsable to protect an investment of that amount

Posting this a little late, have had quite a busy few days. Had to prep the fry tank for a quick out of town trip. Was invited to go to KSC for the shuttle launch. We were about 50 yards behind the close-out crew(The closest humans to the launch) was quite a sight.

I apologize for the way this has kind of happened. I didn't call anyone today due to the condition of a lot of the equipment. I found out most of the larger units were older than thought. I will be contacting the few who were looking for larger units, but expect to replace batteries if you are interested. :(

On to the Good stuff.......

I do have 6 units sitting in my trunk :) They are all the 725's(ES), 4 are still in the box new, 2 others looked to be in good shape. In the morning when i am a bit more coherent I will go through the PM's in order they came in to see who would like one. Since there are only a few, 1 each to spread the joy please.
