My son just recently completed tiger football camp and earned his insanity shirt ( that's what he calls it lol). Now he wants to play and loves playing defense ( likes to push people around). So, the wife will be signing him up this week to play as a freshman and be a Tiger. Seems like yesterday I was in high school watching the games, now I have a son in high school- crazy stuff. Any other proud dads?

Tlowrider, I think Nick is joining too right? You should of seen their faces each day after camp when I picked them up. Funny stuff!

I am an Athletic Director for one of the SCC schools (not Hand). Good luck to your son. I have some time before my daughter goes to High School. We will be celebrating her 1st B-day in two weeks.

Today is his last day of hell week! Off to Dicks this weekend (still tax free too) for some gear and cleates. Next week he gets pads and helmet on. Proud dad here!!

I remember when I was little and did my first round of Madison football. Do they still have you come to the storage facility to slam helmets on ya til one fits?

Nice Tweaked enjoy.
I coach Freshman over at Derby.
Great program at Hand. Good Luck this year!

I actually coach youth football in Agawam. My 12 yr old son, who is also in the club, has been playing since 3rd grade and loves it. I love it as well. He has 2 years of youth football left until high school. Hope your son has a great year. It's an awesome sport, teaches hard work, discipline, sportsmanship.... overall though the comradery is great for the kids.

Not that Iam a football crazy started playing at 10. But... Son 4yrs old in my cousions locker at Univ. of Alabama

Sweet! Love it. His first year at football, and anything for that matter. He almost quit until his new teammates kept pushing him. He told me they were done with their sprints, but continued to run along side of him rooting for him and calling out his name. This was the defining moment for him! The realization that these other boys will go to battle with/for him. Awesome stuff!

My son has always been a little bit non aggressive. Literally last night, they had him and a couple other move to help one of the other teams, something clicked he made 3 tackles in the backfield and one play he was watching the ball carrier and shoved his blocker into the ball carriers path. They where smaller height wise but he is VERY thin and actually weighs in close to them. I really think by him "hitting" them and realizing that it doesnt hurt them or him he was able to concentrate more on proper form and powering through.

He is 56" tall but weighs in at a hefty 58lbs lol

That's awesome! Something similar thing happened for my son his first year. He was chasing the QB and the QB unexpectedly stopped and my son plowed right into him and he got a sack! It was a great hit and he got up realizing "hey this is cool and it didn't hurt" He's been in love with football ever since

This is the kind of stuff that makes football great. My son has developed some really solid friendships from football. Very cool for your son. I hope he sticks with it.

These kids are machines. At school yesterday at 6:45 am for the first day of school, and hit practice right at 2:00 and didn't leave till almost 8:00 pm- then repeat for 3 months lol.

Ah the good old days. They used to make you go to the back field of the Surf Club after school though. Luckily, they got their own field with the new school.

Get ready to nurse the turf burns!
