Hey guys, remember me the refugee from Wisconsin Reef Club? I am still loving all these great stores down here. SaraB is taking me to some new ones next week!

Anyway...

I wanted some ocean/reef paintings for my house, but I couldn't find anything I liked. I take that back, when I went to Monterrey this summer I saw some great stuff, but way to expensive for my blood. I decided to try painting some myself. I haven't painted since I was 13. It turns out I am not that bad at it. What do you guys think?

Prugs, how did you get them to show up in your thread???

Thanks! I also have one of a Batfish and I have one that is a group of fish. Just don't have pictures uploaded.

How many of you have fish figurines or pictures in your houses? Just wondering...

Thanks,

Lisa

I will have to upload the batfish when I go home this weekend. I just finished the painting last week. It is the black and orange type. It is tough to resize and get the detail to show up at all...

Pufferpunk, I am staring at a blank canvas right now trying to decide what to paint. Do you have any particularly stunning pictures that would look good painted? I am not ready to do fish that have to many crazy markings yet. When I get better I want to do a up-close Psychadelic Mandarin. I have to do something sitting in this hotel room all week. It's either paint...or go out drinking. Drinking ruins me for work so painting it is!

Very, very nice paintings. I have some pics of fish around the house. Not to mention the little foam Nemo(goes on a car antenna) that sits on my entertainment center. :D I want to get some more pics or paintings....

I love that tiny lil guy pufferpunk. He would be cute! Maybe I can do him soon. I am not ready for crustaceans yet, they are hard. I started doing a 16x20 hippocampus erectus Sea Horse in the last hour. I think it is going to take me forever but the sketch looks cool so far.

prugs, I love the way that puple tang is posed, nice picture. I need to do more where the fish is facing at an angle instead of just a side shot. Thanks for the intruction link. I put the tag but didn't use the IMG button.

Pufferpunk,

Now that is a sweet shot right there. That would make an awsome painting too! The fish is also not that complicated. If I would like to try painting it down the road would you mind? I like how the fish isn't just a flat side shot like I find in all the books when I am looking for the anatomy of a fish I want to do. Do you have this shot in better resolution on your computer?

Lisa - Those are very nice paintings you did ... I like them! I look forward to meeting you next week!
