OT lens for canon

Advantage of getting nice glass is that it can go with you to the next upgaded body.

BTW, for tank pics I like the Canon 100mm best after trying a couple other brands. The main feature that set it apart was the internal focusing. I remember the first time I tried snipersps's sigma macro. I was like an inch off the glass and the inner lens hit the tank. With the canon, I can place the lense right on the pane of glass and take the picture.

I guess I am not seeing the advantage if your not a pro ..... if your just taking tank shots I don't even see a need to even upgrade the body not unless its broke lol

My rebel G works fine and so does my tamron lens I never upgrade the body or lens and i still got A's in my class and paid to take pics of this model.

was the sigma the same mm ? as the canon ?

There's also the Sigma 105 and 150. I still would get the Canon 100 though. Canon lenses of course hold their valve better which is great for later upgrades if you ever decide to go that route.

And if you ever need a photo buddy, :) . I need to get back out and shoot again.

Yeah thats the brand I forgot I was looking at images of all of them on the photo forum this guy has some AWESOME pictures with a sigma 150 look http://parchen.smugmug.com/aquariums

Photo buddies !:D

sigma was 105 I think. It gets very good reviews.

Cool, finally... and did I miss it, what are you doing about a lens?

As far as the 5D goes, it's just personal taste. I don't like the camera, don't feel it's worth the money, etc. Now when the 5D Mk 2 comes out, we'll see.

Right now I have a 1D MK3, 2 40D's, 30D, 20D and 2 10D's. I mean it's how I make my living, so it's a different story. If I didn't, then a Rebel or 40D would be the way I would go.

A visual effects guy I know loves the 20D, something about the quality of pixels... anyway, I'm sure you will be happy.
As I always say, it's not the equipment, but when you push the button that counts!

Best,
Mark

thats awesome yes when you do it professionally you will have a collection :D

I was making photgraphy my minor but since it cost a lot I had to stop to go after my real goal. So I am going to start up again.

As for lens I am still looking at reviews etc........ I have a tamron lens 28mm-180mm I can use and I will have the standard lens with the 20D. I am going for 100mm + . Price is a big deal to me because since I do not do this a living if something happens to the lens I might melt in a puddle of mush lol

well, then try getting a close up filter for the standard lens and see if that works for you...

Like extension tubes ? I was going to get some also because I would like to use it with my macro lens once I get one.

i just got my baby on sat !!!!! I thought I was getting the standard 28-55mm lens but I got a better one with the camera a 28-80mm.

Roxy,

Where did you get your camera and what the price range? Do you get used equipment or just buy new?

I got mine from a scnrs member she sold it to me for 400 with the lens, and charger if you go here http://photography-on-the.net/forum/

many photographers sell used equipment and here in Pasadena they have a camera show every month at the elk lodge ( i never been ) I might start going to get some more EF lenses

I buy both new and used ,If its used the condition has to be good for me to buy it. I will take pic of the camera once I find my stupid point n shoot I think it got jealous and ran away lol
