All you need is enough light at the right angle. With a lunar rainbow, or moonbow, you generally can't see it with the naked eye; you don't have enough color receptors. To see it, you have to take a long exposure with the camera.

I'm still new to the DSLR world, so I don't know if I can phrase this question correctly. How much of this image was achieved with just the camera settings and lens choice, and how much achieved through post-processing (i.e. Photoshop)? I wanted to ask this same question when your posted your poppy pics. What lens did you use to capture this image?
