BTW, Edwin. I didn't mean the 'lost all respect for you' comment. Just some respect:lol:

Oh sheesh, that makes me feel better

Edwin --

As with past things you have said (and seemingly contradict), I don't think you really meant what you said, and although sometimes a good quality - I think you're too stubborn to admit it.

LMAO....

I will admit I am stubborn.

I think the main thing is that being on the internet, I dont always type well, so things dont come out as I would like them too and people get offended/upset too easily, when I dont mean too. In person I am WAYYY better at explaining things, especially when im not at work.

Don't worry Edwin you aren't the only stubborn person on here....I almost got fired, and am probaly gettin written up for insubordination from an exchange of words with my boss yesterday...neither of us want to admit who is wrong, and my boss seems to think because he is my boss that makes him right...I beg to differ...and he thinks he can intimidate me by writting me up...little does he know that that means I get to talk to his boss....and we will see who still has a job after that disscussion...

5 years for raping and sodomizing a 5 year old does not constitute as time served nor will it ever in my book. Tell that to the 5 year old that will remember that for the rest of her/his life. Look at the statistics regarding this crap, 28% of those incarcerated will be repeat offenders of the same damn crimes. That's nearly 3 out of every 10 convicted; But "they served there time..." Tra la la la :/

Right to privacy, I agree I hold this very dear with passion and conviction. But how on God's green earth can you advocate for someones privacy when there robbing our children of there privacy and innocence as well.

Dont be the kind of person where it has to hit close to home for you to comprehend the grandscale of things. Im just bewildered I guess......

-Justin

Then we should be pushing for punishment that fits the crime. Child molesters should be in jail for life. Rapists should be in jail for life. 19 year olds who have consensual sex with 17 year olds shouldn't be branded a sex offender and be on websites like this for the rest of their life.

I'd be interested to see stats to show if this actually works in preventing reoccurences of their behavior.

I thought i heard they chemically castrate them when they get out, But that doesnt always mean they will stop. For most is not on a pleasure level of physical touch, but more of a emotional and powering effect they have over there victim.

All kidding aside, it likely wouldn't stop the violent behavior.

I thought some were doing on a volluntary basis. I don't know if any have been court ordered.

I think you would have to chop it off, as well as their hands and maybe give them a lobotomy to stop some from every doing it again.

OUCH

Don't get me started. If that ever happened to my son the only pic that would be on display would be in the obituary! Parents can't always controll, watch or keep there kid safe 24/7 for 18-20 years so things happen and it's not the parents fault!

I don't think it is supposed to "prevent" it at all. I think it's a public acknowledgement of not only the rates of recivitism for these crimes buit also the dearth of adequate sentencing for those that commit them. It is a means of protecting one's self and family from "monsters," as Nu2SW aptly called them.

My friend was raped as a child and, at 34, is just putting her life together. She endures horrific nightmares every night, but after 3 years the guy "paid his debt?" How many others must suffer?

Freedom only goes so far. You take someone else's, how much do you deserve?

There are countries where they do just that. Saudi Arabia, Burma, Somalia..... :D

go to meganslaw.ca.gov and search your current address. There will be just as many anywhere else as there are here.

So who do we blame?

The courts and government, The people?

The judge assigned him 5 years out in 3 for being a good boy, So someone murder's someone and they get 25 to life. hmm One your dead and not there to know and the other, you have to live with for the rest of your life and they are out in 3..... ( those years are just hypothetical)

Anyone else see whats wrong?

They make such a big deal about this issue, but yet enforce it with light sentences and terms.

Why arn't they locked up for life? murder and rape, worst things that can be done. yes one is like a slap on the wrist compared to the other.

So why dont we have a database of all the murderers that are out on probation and parole and such, why only one group. What about convicted fellons, robbers, thiefs. I think if there is a system for one, there should be a system for all.

The reason for this law is to "Make" people feel safer and more aware, but dont you worry about your house being broken into and you being shot and robbed.

Honestly how often do parents think about rapist and sex offenders and the meganlaw website. Id like to know who here thinks about it and how often.

Ill be the first to answer..... Never, only time I think about it is when someone say something about the website or law, Or the news does a story about the law. Other then that, I go on with my life.

So Sacramento is loaded with sex offenders and sex offender sympathizers??

Hi supa. Long time no see. :D

Matt "I so love child molesters" Wandell

PS Don't come to Davis! It's expensive. Great for kids, but you don't have any. There are lots of girls your age though. <Shrug>

My only concern about the meganslaw website is that it may actually increase the likelihood of recidivism in child molesters. If our judicial system is in place to prevent crime (what other reason is it there for?), then we should be taking a hard look at how effective websites like this actually are.

Even more reason why we should lock them up for life and throw away the key.
