OT: MTB Trails......any riders here?

I recently got into mountain biking and looking for some cool beginner trails to ride. I've been out to Astradero in Palo Alto....pretty easy ride but brutal when it's hot out since there is very little shading there. Did the Crystal Springs thing but riding on concrete with an MTB is not quite as exhilarating but I still enjoy it. I recently ventured out with a couple of friends to Skeggs Point and the trail almost killed us. The trails were pretty technical for our skill level. My buddy went over his bars twice and I made love to a large redwood tree coming around a turn. Bombing down the hills was a blast but coming back up was another story....a lot more walking then riding that's for sure. Someone suggested Golden Gate Park for a quick fun ride.....supposed to have some good single trails. Any suggestions for some beginner trails to ride? Maybe we can gather up a bunch of fellow RC members and go riding and talk reefs at the same time :)!

Make sure you hook me up with a demo before you sell them :p! I'm training the little one now so she can pay her own way through college !

Alum rock, fremont older, silver creek, saratoga gap, st joseph, stevens creek canyon, there is a few down here too.

There is a bunch of trails in montara that are east beginner trails. There is also prisma creek and skegs off the 92. I would offer to show you some nice beginnger stuff but im down for almost a year as I shattrref my arm training for downhill race session. On that note anyone looking for a sweet trail bike let me know.

Waterdog Lake in Belmont is cool and for good downhill practice i suggest Boyscout in Pacifica.

If you want some easy trail riding I suggest Lake Chabot. Water Dog Lake and Boyscout might be a little advanced but fun!

Briones in Martinez is a good ride. Lots of fire trail and single track for all levels. If you drive up to the parking lot on Briones Rd. from the North side (Martinez side) you can cut out the majority of the uphill ride. There's still a fair amount of climbing depending on where you go.

We used to take two vehicles and park on in the bottom parking lot off of Reliez Valley Rd. and use the other to haul the bikes to the upper parking lot on Briones Rd. You can ride all the way down and drive back up :) Just make sure that you don't leave the keys for vehicle at the lower in the vehicle in the upper lot :/ That's a long, ugly, grueling, hot ride back to the top...

I've heard about water dog lake and will be checking it out over the next couple of weekends....it's not that far from me. Briones sounds very promising. I will probably hit that up too when I get a chance.

Didn't read all the way through so forgive me if its been mentioned but you have to check out Morgan territory.

I used to ride therein Wed after work with passion bikes. Great group. I haven't ridden in a few years now. I need to get back in shape and get riding again

Boyscout has parking at the access but your best bet is park at safeway and ride to the trail. Easy up on a old paved road. Some fun downhill with lots of jumps and berms on the way down. Enjoy

Saw some youtube vids on Boyscout.....looks like a blast. I'm going to have to check it out for sure.
