OT - RC Airplanes

Got the Evolution 35GT/2 today. Cool engine. Using the rear backplate mount. Had to get a wraparound canister Pitts style muffler for it. I need to mod the muffler a bit (Dremel style) as it's oversized, and from peering inside the best I can, it seems to have chambers. Should make it quiet and sound mean. Almost done mounting on the Cap... need to do some reinforcements. Can't wait to get the rest of the stuff I need to get it fired up :)

Got the heli a couple of days ago. I haven't gotten the video receiver yet but should be able to get it soon. I test flew it yesterday and it flies well. I messed with the Copilot but don't know if I like it or not. Flies weird when you aren't used to it. Hopefully I can have it ready for FPV by this weekend. Any of you guys coming out this weekend?

Michael

Glad to hear it flies well, Mike! Can't wait to see it and have video, too. I'm planning on coming out, but I'm not sure which day just yet... hopefully Saturday so I can go by PAC. :)

And yep, Zach's out of town. He left out last night.

Heh... this field is kinda crazy to get to the first time.

I don't remember the road number, but its on Mona Rd in (technically) Murfreesboro, although its right on the edge. You may just want to have someone meet you at the end of the driveway... cause that's all that's there! :) It looks like a normal driveway until you keep going past the house.

Maybe that someone could be you ;)

Heading to PAC in the morning with Rick to see the Hobby Lobby EDF demo. :)

Did you get anything new for your FPV chopper this week, Mike?

Brandon

As much as I would love to fly the Cap this weekend, there's just too much left to do, I'm too lazy, and a cold beer and the couch looks too inviting. I'll definitely be out at Smyrna tomorrow evening though.

I made a patch antenna and worked on my ground station some. I also got a plug so I can make a cord for my GoPro camera. I haven't had much time to work on stuff this week. Hopefully I can at least get my GoPro camera on by tomorrow. It has a much wider angle and the picture is much better than the little security camera thing that is on it now.

I flew a raptor once on a buddy box!!! It was nerve racking! :)
Omost took on rc heli's once... I may someday again... But for now... The coral have all my time... AND MONEY ;) ok.... I'll leave you alone now... Just wanted to say hi!

You definitely weren't. :hmm5:

I got out there a little late because I was tuning on my FPV heli and having all kinds of troubles with the tail and that Copilot 2 kept turning off on me. I was adjusting on the tail and kept punching the throttle to test it. Apparently I went all the way to low throttle once while coming back down and that caused the ESC to go into soft start so I lost a bunch of headspeed. I managed to bring it down right side up but ended up breaking the skids off the landing gear and stripping a couple of servo gears. It is all easily repairable but I think I am going to sit it on the shelf for a while and try an FPV plane instead. When I get comfortable flying the plane FPV I will try the heli again.

Oh, btw, I am heading out there in a few minutes so hopefully I can make it there a little earlier today.
