OT soldering advice

Bought some new sconces after my wife FINALLY found some she liked. Upon arriving home, in her haste to put me to work....she snapped a piece off. I have the soldering wire, and a torch, but they were hand me downs so ivd never used them. Do I just heat and touch with the wire? Is there anything more involved?

Sounds like you are looking at brazing.

What material are the sconces?

Check these:

good luck! thay are usually cheap white metal, and dont take solder well. I would use JB weld and try to hid it the best you can

Heating the metal up that high will probably end up discoloring it as well. +1 on the JB Weld or similar product.

It's pretty rustic already so discoloration shouldn't an issue. Short of gluing the piece to the wall, I'll look into your suggestions. Thanks!

Good super glue and be done with it., or just return it to the store as DOA.

Is it a major part or just cosmetic?

Got picts?

Cant return them. They were close outs. Yes those are my fingernails. "It puts the lotion on its skin, or else it gets the hose again"

Need to know the material to pick a method involving heat. Are the pieces solid wire or tube? If the piece that broke off is tube you might be able to insert a pin into it and put a matching hole in the main piece to pin it back on (with JB Weld securing the pin in both pieces).
