OT, Sort of - Honda Generator Motor

Diaphragm fuel pump? Are we thinking of the same motor Chris? AFAIK there is no fuel pump at all on this thing...

So inside the shaft of the carb there is a little brass fitting that restricts fuel flow into the mixing chamber. Took that out and it was all gummed up. Ran it through the ultrasonic cleaner and reamed it out a little with a hypodermic and it looks clean as a whistle now. If the thing doesn't start when I get home, I'm gonna be one sad panda

I bet this is your problem.....

I bet this is your problem.....

If you narrow it down to a fuel issue, I can bet the float it sticking. make sure it moves up and down...soak it in carb cleaner for a wile and hose it off with brake clean. Reinstall the bowl and prime it.

Is the float sticking?

That is indeed helpful. Looks like to me the "main jet" was clogged for sure. I didn't delve into the pilot jet at all, but that seems more like an issue for speed control than anything. Hoping my reaming of the main jet and nozzle will make her work

Put everything back together at home and went straight for broke. No starter fluid, no electric start. One pull, vroom vroom :D. Not making the same mistake twice I drained it of gas for storage. Happy man :)

one problem that i did have on a -15 degree day was mu oil was so thick that it wouldn't fire . now i keep mine in the basement and if there is an electrical outage then you pull it outside and fire it up ! i do now use synthetic oil too as it doesn't get thicker when cold .
