Our 40g Island waterfall

How do you see the root system working out with the mangroves?

I don't remember how fast they grow compared to the trunk and leaf or if they prefer sand, etc.

Thanks a lot guys it's comments like these that make us keep this thread alive , we hope that everyone enjoys this tank and even if we spark inspiration to just one person then that's good enough for us :)

Who knows maybe our little waterfall will make totm someday :)

Sand won't matter but in the years to come the root system could become an issue that's why we are doing an external refugium with the bulk of them and just adding a select bunch to the display, worst case scenario the roots get to long for the pukani and I'll cut them but for now we will see how everything does ime mangroves are slow growers and my past bunch lived in a plastic cup for years and the roots stayed small, the mangrove trees I posted a few pages back from a friend's tank are 7ft trees and they are still in a glass box so fingers crossed :)

Added some more zoas and some more sps and over Xmas I plan to add some high end Acros, finish the stand, setup the external fuge and hunt down more zoas:)

Mangroves I planted in the rocks have broken first leaves their seeing better growth than the ones in their own system due to the nutrients available








And a bunch now in my overflow box that I'm about to fill with mangroves lol






Whites are doing their thing still lots of growth on these guys they look nothing like they did when I got them in solid seed form lol
