Owners Thread: Innovative Marine Fusion 40

On a side note, there has been some recent questions about the Sicce 2.0 and the adaptors. (great pump by the way) It seems a lot of people have been getting a reducer straight from the pump output to 1/2" This will work, but it also reduces the flow. Instead, get a Insert Y Fitting - 3/4 inch Insert x 1/2 inch Insert x 1/2 inch Insert. This will allow you to use the full output of the pump. It will stay 3/4" until it splits into two 1/2". I got one at Lowe's, but if you can't fine one, marinedepot has them.

Will be installing my Sicce 2.0 in a week or two. Can you send a link or picture of the piece you got at Lowes?

Open up the air value almost all the way open and just raise the cup. I know sounds weird but you will get less mb. I also will stuff some floss down the left side of it ( my skimmer is in #4) this helps with the bubbles at the beginning. Make sure you give the skimmer a good shake as well so it gets any bubbles out in the pump.

While we are on the ghost skimmer discussion. Does anyone know how to get rid of the micro bubbles in the DT that this skimmer is putting out? I've checked the pump connections and they are all ok and the air valve is maybe 3/4 of the way shut and pulling decent amount of gunk. I've had this skimmer on my tank since 5/5/15 so it's definitely broken in. I've tried calling I.M. And have not been able to talk to anyone. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance.

The Hawthorne HD does not have it. I just used the regular cuppling reducer. Gainger May have it. Never checked there. Let me know. I am not using the one I ordered. Taking up space

Are there any in sump options for a media reactor besides the minimax? I'm seeing mixed reviews and would like to know if other options exist.

Just go to marine depot .com and use their search. Search insert Y fitting and it will pop up.

I bought a Tunze Osmolator 3155 ATO and its not working.

The top of my Innovative Marine 40 sits about 5 feet off the ground. In the cabinet below the tank I have a 5 gallon tank that the pump for the ATO sits in. When the water level gets low I hear the pump kick on and it just isn't able to pump 5 feet high. If I pick up the 5 gallon tank and lift it 2 feet off the ground it works.

So i know the pump works but it doesn't pump high enough like the box said? Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to prime the pump? help?

I think it should be able to push 5'. When I had mine, it sat in the bottom of a 55 drum, and pumped to the top of the drum, about 4' across the garage, through a wall, and another few feet to the sump and up 2' for an air break.

I know thats not 5' straight up, but those little pumps are strong. I did have one fail and need to replace it, is it old?

Open up the blue box ( 3 screws) and in there will be a knob there. Adjust it to the right and it will give you some more power for the pump

Just received my 40 from BRS. Looking at it from the front, the glass under the media basket on the back left hand side is completely broken. Packaging looked nice, but as soon as I pulled media basket, saw it was broken. Have to contact BRS tomorrow to figure out what we are going to do.

A little disheartening to say the least. Hoping BRS and/or IM has a solution and quick.

I have the Ecotech XR30W Pro G3, Ghost Skimmer, Tunze ATO, MP10WQD, battery backup, cobalt heater, 40 lbs pink Fiji, 40 lbs reef saver BRS Rock, custom caddy with ROX carbon.

Was excited to start the build then opened tank to find the crack. UGH!

Such a bummer! Hope you get up and running soon. Good choice on the BRS rock and Fiji pink sand, what I have in my tank and I love it.

Got BRS on the phone they were super helpful. Looks like they are sending me a new one today. So now I have spare parts and a quarantine tank! :)

So emptying my tunze skimmer, i dropped the lid in the center compartment where the pump is and it sunk off to the left, way under everything. Anybody have any suggestions to get that out of there????

Yes, climb up on a small ladder and reach down in there. Lol. Or if you have a pair of bbq tongs, try those. Personally I used a big pair of stainless tweezers I bought on eBay for most of my retrievals.

Hope you all are well and tanks are good! Mine is doing pretty well.
If anyone knows of someone looking for a fusion 40 in the tri state area, pm me. It's taking up room in the garage!

Some of us need a larger ladder given our tank's placement . . .

Don't be getting all "height-ist" now that you have moved on to a bigger glass box . . . Thinking you are all that just because you have a few gallons on us . . . well, I tell ya . . . [mumble mumble mumble grumble grumble grumble]

LOL!
Being short like me, I've used the step stool many times to get in there, both in the 40 and now with the 75. Not all of us are giants like Biz.

Getting back into the Hobbie after a four year break. I have 2 Vortech MP40 w, will the be to powerful for this tank if I turn them all the way down?

I was just given the 40 mini and need to know if anyone knows if the tank is tempered glass or standard glass. I'm not using the rear sump chamber as I want to tie it into my display sump and set this tank up as a frag tank only. Thanks in advance.

Hahahaha! So funny, I was grabbing something just last night at the bottom of the tank. Does pay to be a built in ladder.
