Owners Thread: Innovative Marine Fusion 40

Waiting on my IM 40. Thinking about upgrading the pump right from the start. Reading that the Sicce 2.0 is a PITA to get into the rear compartment of the tank. How hard is it to get in and out for cleaning? Also, will it work with the stock hose and IM spinning nozzles? Should i do the upgrade or go with the stock return pump? Also, I'd like the tank to be as quiet as possible.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Joe

It is a real pain for sure. You have to use a screw in adapter to connect the pump to the hose. The only noise my tank makes is water noise no pump sound. Right now I have the standard pump in the tank. I am in the process of setting up my water station out in my garage. I have a stenner dual head pump in the garage doing a one gallon a day water change. Two cups at the top of the hour from 3 pm to 10 pm. Also moving my GHL dosers out to the garage they do Balling method and ATO plus all the magic juices during the week. Trying to get from crawling on he floor to work under the stand what a pain that is. [emoji55]

How hard is it to get the pump in place? I called Bulk Reef Supply to ask about the pump. They recommended they Sicce 1.5. But isn't that defeating the whole purpose of a pump upgrade? The 1.5 moves less water that the stock pump.

It's definitely a real pain, you have to screw in the hose barb fitting with the pump in the chamber or it won't go thru. I ran it for about two weeks, I thought about what a pain in the Arse it would be to clean it when I wanted to so I ended up taking it out and putting in the stock one. Getting it out was just as fun, I ended up removing pump cover, propeller cover to remove the pump from the chamber, it was easier than trying to unscrew the hose fitting lol. One thing I noticed about stock pump is that its definitely noisier in comparison, sicce is way quieter. I'm probably gonna end up putting it back in one of these days

Thanks for the heads up!!! As much as I want a silent pump I don't want to have to deal with all that nonsense of putting it into the tank and then trying to get it out to do a cleaning. Maybe I will just got with the Sicce 1.5 instead.

UPS SUCKS DONKEY BALLS!!!!!!!!

Walked outside tonight to find the box with my Nuvo 40 stand and a smaller box with the IM return spinners and no box containing my tank. Called Marine Depot to confirm what I already KNEW... UPS damaged the tank during shipping. So now I gotta wait another week for the tank. I'm really ****ed because I'm home the rest of the week and was hoping to have everything transferred from my JBJ 28g Nano before the weekend. Oh well...

If anyone is looking for a good media reactor that's fits perfect in rear and is fairly cheap I suggest the CPR aquatics nano media reactor. Been using it since I set up tank 6 months ago. Easy to change out media. Quiet. Non messy

Hi fellow IM Fusion 40 reefers, quick question on where to locate my ATO outlet pipe. Since only the water level of the middle chamber moves, it would only make sense to locate the ATO outlet there. However I am using kalkwasser as my top-off water I'd like to drip it into either the first or second chamber where my skimmer in the second chamber can work on skimming the precipitation (kalkawasser's phospate-binding action) before it flows into the middle chamber where the precipitation will be creating a mess or gets pumped back into the display tank. Would my planned layout make sense?
