Owners Thread: Innovative Marine Fusion 40

If your going to be on a conference call on speaker right next to the ghost than yes. If you plan on sitting at your desk while on a conference call than it will be perfect. :)

OK i think i'll stick with the skimmate then, it's doing a superb job and i mostly do conference calls with headset on, so not a problem:thumbsup:

Btw my set-up just for the forum:

Hardware
- Magnafuse
- Custom Caddy with algae (growing pretty well btw, had to trim it last wk!)
- MiniMax Media Reactor
- 1 x Kessil A160W
- Spin Stream flow nozzles
- Skimmate Protein Skimmer
Only ATO pending, looking at options

- 15Kg of live rock (from Indonesia)

Fishes
- 1 x Snowflake clownfish (Ocellaris)
- 2 x Firefish gobbies (Nemateleotris magnifica)
- 1 x Yellow Prawn Goby (Cryptocentrus cinctus)
I had also a pipefish but couldn't sustain it unfortunately...

Inverts
- 2 x Cleaner shrimps
- 3 x Peppermint Shrimps
- 5 Hermit Crabs
- 10 snails (5 Turban & 5 Nassarius)
- 3 Feather Duster - Tubeworms (Sabellastarte sp.)
- 1 x Red Seastar (Fromia Elegans)

Corals
- 1 x Eagle Eye coral (Zoanthus sp.) - medium
- 1 x Green Star Polyps (Pachyclavularia violacea) - medium
- 10 x Bulls Eye Mushrooms - all small
- 2 Flaming pinks Zoanthus (frags)

Very nice! Ato is a matter of convenience. I just got tired of dumping jugs into the tank twice a day. You are doing your homework first. Awesome!
You'll find that your skimmer will work even better with a constant tank level.
Post some pics when you get a chance!

I thought about it too. I think best you could do, is upgrade the pump. Not a lot of room down there for much...

I'd love to see a better cup design too..

I got lucky and ultimate is closed today, tomorrow will cost me..

I think I'm going to pass on the flame. As nice looking as it is, I'd hate to have to rehome if it starts eating corals..I'll look for something next time I go to the lfs..I really wish benagi cardinals were more hardy. They are such finicky eaters..

if you are using rscmp salt, what's your alk at? Mine has always run low. Less than 6dkh today, right after a wc no less..everything else was spot on..

Wow, that is low especially from rea sea pro. Mine is around 10 always. I dose 10 ml of two part esv, but that is just crazy low even after a water change

- Spin Stream flow nozzles

Burn them... Run them over with your car... Do something with them :)

Once a snail gets on them, they get stuck and not very useful for the 40s

Clearly this is all from my own personal experience

Yea it is. Weird. Maybe a bad batch. I've read it happens...
I hit it with 40 ml part b today in the course of 12 hours. Trying to avoid a giant ph rise..
I'll run another test in the AM.
Wondering if it is what's causing my bed mess...
I'll find out in the next couple of days...
Normally that's exactly the same dose I run...

Very nice! Be careful that gsp doesn't overgrow everything.
I'd love a star..but my wife likes harliquin shrimp...and they love stars! I fed our last one a leg a week. I would bet he could eat a whole star in a couple days. He'd drag it under s rock and I'd pick up shell bits the next morning.
Keep it up!

I never heard of that.. Guess I have gotten lucky and good to know too. Just did some testing i am at 10.44 dkh, so cut down and Ca is high too..so going to bring them both down.

Setting up the dosers right now....going to at least run them until I leave and then shut them down the night I leave

Yep. I did some reading and it's happened before. I am going to mix up a fresh gallon tonight and test it in the morning just to confirm it. I've done probably 10 wc using this bucket. i hope I'm wrong. It seems my corals like this stuff but maybe they could be doing better...

I installed the pm2 and probe today. Like having that new tile on fusion and the display....another piece of data to watch and plot...also spent time cleaning the cabinet out. Going to have to clean up that control side next.. It's a freaking mess in there!

Dosers are up and running... going to bring down to 9ml a day for both and see where it gets my levels..

Going to be running Alk from 11 pm -6 am

Going to be running Ca from 4 pm to 10 pm

Thoughts? Never thought of doing Ca during the day... Obviously Alk at night

In tank media basket

In tank media basket

Whoever was offering the in tank media rack for sale (can't find the post) is it still available? I'd like to get it for my Nuvo..

Just got it up and running today and the stock baskets suck hard lol.. I was gonna make one from acrylic but I'd rather just buy it at this point since I still have a lot to do..

Reef angel is going on tonight and tomorrow it should be picture worthy for the thread..

Anyways let me know who you are and if it's still for sale =)..

Reduck had one do not know his he still has it.

I like to do it all overnight. I don't think it will hurt though. I've done 10ml later in the afternoon quite a few times.

It was the batch of salt. Even Ca was lower than I've ever seen. I read one thread about mixing up the salt before using it. Find that hard to believe, but I'll try anything.

After the 40ml max dosage do part b yesterday my alk was just barely acceptable. 7.1
Even my ca was low! 350. Not horribly low but I expect it to be near 500. So I hit it with part a 20ml before I went to bed.
Water tests will happen shortly.

Screwy...

He opens at noon. I'll be there waiting. Buy one get one on frags today...
Hoping for some frogspawn..

Just hit it with another 10 of b. Gonna wait an hour and do more testing.
This alk has me freaked. Going to use up all my tlf 2 part and move onto brs mixes. Can't decide if I want to toss the bucket of Red Sea and go back to seachem salt. That was very consistent for me. My corals seem to like the Red Sea, but I'm a bit concerned about their batch consistency and blending now.
I really can't believe I should have to mix dry salts prior to adding....

Just trying to get the parameters in an acceptable zone this morning and let it rest for a day..to see if the tank is eating more 2 part than I'm dosing..maybe 10ml is too little now...

Never a dull moment...never..

Sounds like you need to go to Ultimate Coral :)

Isn't that the true...I would try another bucket before you switch back.. I love Rea Sea and never had an issue.

Buy one get one free!! That is awesome. Enjoy

Finally got to 7.7dkh. In turn my Ca is up a bit but I'm sure my LPS will appreciate it. I'll test again tomorrow eve and see where it is.
Thinking my LPS are consuming a lot more than I thought. That and a mediocre batch of salt.
Going to hit it one last time with B, then leave it alone till tomorow night.
Argh...

I would stop dosing. You are going to burn through all your supplements fast. I would get a new buck and start water changes.

I want to find a purple and pink hammer. Creating a hammer garden with some torches and frogspawns

Thought about it, but it's done. I have plenty of brs 2 part. Gallons actually.
Leaving it alone now..I considered doing a massive water change but now that the levels are acceptable, like I said...it will stabilize and I'll see what it measures tomorrow and how the coral looks later today. Right now the lights are just coming up on them.

From now on I'm doing tests on every wc mix. Live and learn...

I know he had some orange frogspawn last week...:spin3:
Looking for something that can be high on the rocks with a lot of movement. Frogspawn or Torch probably.
