They just don't look like they can support a light from the ceiling very reliably.

What are you going to drill in to? You can do a Molly/toggle bolt if you want to be sure

I was planning on using a toggle, just seems more secure to me. The ceiling in my house is the typical drywall textured ceiling

Exactly. With that tank is there room for the 2 part tank we are using?
I saw a 5 on Amazon that may fit but also a custom acrylic 7 on eBay. Space is at a premium in there so I may go with the custom tank. Can't justify the tank you bought. Or can I? Can I see a pic of the fit?

hmmm..but no room for the 2 part tank...if does fit like a glove..
I am trying to maintain using that one quadrant for wet only. I am going to try to mock up a couple of sizes to see what I can possibly build myself...there is a 7 on ebay that may work too...I will build a cardboard mockup and see if it can coexist with the 2 part tank...
How deep is our cabinet? I know the container is not pushed all the way back. Wonder if I push all way back we could put the dosing container on that side.

I got a plastic toggle rated at 30lbs each at HD. You need to go all out with a metal toggle

5g a week min over winter... During the summer months a little less. Keep in mind, higher circ (more aeration) and lots of light. YRMV.

Just wanted to post an update as of today
I have the tank running for about 8 weeks so far.
Equipment:
HOB-1 skimmer(awesome!) used for $90
2 Jabeo MP10's with dual controller
reef radiance 165p+ controlled/programmed via iPhone
Hydor smart ATO
Cobalt 150w heater
Homemade filter floss trays
carbon/GFO in media bag
Homemade fuge sleeve with chaeto/pods lit with a 5000k PAR 38 bulb from home depot
Neptune systems Aquacontroller 3 with DC8 (got used for $140 =)
Livestock:
2 juvenile ocelaris clowns
1 juvenile chromis
1 pistol shrimp/juvenile watchman goby
5 astrea snails
1 RBTA
1 green torch with white tips
1 xenia
few zoa frags (fire and ice,people eater,dragon eye
1 paly polyps that came on the rock the RBTA was attached to
I put the RBTA in first, it moved once and hasn't left its current spot in almost a month. Hopefully he won't decide to move around and sting everything...

I plan on setting up a ref when my tank is more established but I think I'm gonna use these LeD strips and attach it to my marine orbit light

Since these are water proof I'll stick it inside chamber 5, and wouldn't have to cut the back off.

Are you talking inside the water? Or above the chamber? You can't (well I wouldn't as I'm sure most others will agree) stick those inside the water cause for one you never know what can leach off of them and #2 they say they are water proof but to what degree? I don't believe they are submersible and even if they were a salt water environment will most likely kill them quickly and then kill the tank.
I've had similar ones for inside my stand and once you cut them there is copper exposed so that alone is a major no no.. Basically nothing inside the tank that's not designed for the tank. There's even pumps sold for fish ranks that rust in out tanks so that should tell you something =)..

Yea. Hopefully later today. It's just waking up. I'm rarely home when the lights are up and I hate to shock stuff randomly for pics. You'd think I'd have zillions of pics being in the photo biz, but no, I don't.
Added two new coral last night after an "unexpected" visit to Ultimate. A nice little two headed purple tipped frogspawn and a yellow hydrophoria. He also had a stunning spotted gorgonian, but it was sold. He's ordering me another one...it was one of those, I have to have it moments...
Haha. I got an email from them and I was like " I bet reduck is going to going"
I am going to send in my tunze pump. Get that squared away. Going to test all my parameters this morning to see where things are at. Been in Boston last couple days.
