hows the skimming going?Makes sense. Thanks for the help. I am getting dangerously close to adding some livestock. The Dr. Tim's I ordered should be here tomorrow, so I'll go through his fishless cycle protocol and see what happens.
I'm pretty sure that my best bet is going to be ordering fish & coral. I have two LFS' within reasonable distance and neither are all that impressive. Another is almost two hours away and is a definite step up but I still wasn't impressed enough to really justify the drive. I'm thinking I'll probably place an order with Vivid Aquariums unless you guys object or feel strongly otherwise.
Wow Skimmer really does go nuts after you use WaterWeld and Cyano
Yea. You should see them when you use red slime treatment...might as well camp out by it for a day.
Here are the new additions to the DT.
Have a Diamond Goby and Bicolor Blenny in the quarantine tank, but they're both still shy.. Blenny is all over the place exploring and looking around, until I look at him then he just stops and stares at me.
Not sure what the small one is, it was a bonus they gave me. The other bonus they gave me is the monti in the upper right. The Monti ended up breaking a piece off in shipping, but there piece had a good amount of polyps so I glued it to a new plug and stuck it in.
Almost looks like a little scoly. It'll all look good in a day or so...Watch the Goby. They're jumpers. Mine landed two feet from the tank with the screen on. Glad the dog found him first. At least he didn't eat it...
How did it jump with the screen on the 40? there's no gap..
I've decided I need more real estate for corals...
I got into the hobby cause SW fish looked cooler than most FW and was just gonna do a FOWLR tank.
Then got some coral, and to be honest, I enjoy watching the coral grow, feeding it, etc. More than I do the fish most of the time.
Sure I love the fish too, but If i had to chose between a fish only or coral only tank, it would be no contest.
Well so far there is only 1 coral that hasnt opened yet and thats the Rasta Zoa's. Everything else has opened up and is looking better, heck even the Acro had its polyps out for a while.
I think the little bonus frag that I couldn't identify was another single head of the blood diamond Acan lord that I ordered.
And Since I can't seem to sell the ReefRadiance Light i ordered, I decided i'm just gonna keep it and order This - eventually.
can you elaborate on feeding the tank? Do you mean feeding the fish or something else?Cool. Give em a day, then feed the tank..they'll wake up..
I just got a bottle of tlf reef snow to try....I'll see how that goes tomorrow..

Yikes! I think I may have spent too much.
Yikes! I must've spent a fraction on my build, but then again I bought everything used. Like reduck, I don't like to keep receipts. It's better that way.
On a side note, I may be picking up a radion xr30 and a vortech mp10 locally, replacing a current marine led and jbj powerhead. Still trying to decide if I realllly really "need" it, since I'm a total noob at this.

Broadcast feeding of corals with Reef-Roids, Marine Snow, Reef chili, etc

One worked for me for a while. When I added a second its when it got interesting.
You have to work out where to place the pumps to get the best circ for your rockwork. What works in my tank may not work in your tank.
I found that one on each side offset front to back worked best for me. I have MP's so I can also program them to run in sync or anti sync. So far, anti sync has worked best for me..
