Owners Thread: Innovative Marine Fusion 40

Without having a Dos myself, this is all just speculation, but it sounds to me like you might have gotten some faulty tubing - assuming there are no bubbles in your reservoir bottles. Doesn't happen often at all, but we have occasionally seen sets for our IV pumps have a tiny hole that leads to air in the lines. The pumps we use can detect those bubbles and shut themselves down.

Only time will tell. I had some airline so I replaced it all. I like the ddr design but didn't give thought to drips. For what the whole system costs, I think more details like that should have been considered. Especially considering these tanks are usually front and center in our homes...

It hasn't missed a dose other than due to my clumsy programming.

We shall see what happens in the next day or two...

Added the the Wyoming and snowflake clown...everything went well.....

Until my six-line wrasse said hello. He started to harass the Wyoming right away and continued to go after it. For Mother's Day, I took out all my rock to get this guy and sent him packing. Did a little rearranging and replaced him with a purple firefish

I guess this goes to show, don't buy the first model year :). I think Neptune will get everything figured out soon. Just like I waited a year for the nest and skydrop. They are working well!

Happy Mothers Day Mrs. fish

I agree. Just seems like for the price it would really have knock-your-socks-off functionality that was miles ahead of the traditional methods. I'm definitely going to keep a close watch on your experience with the Dos. I hope the bubble problem gets sorted out for you soon. Keep us updated on how things go!

I trust Neptune. They'll sort it out. When everyone was having major issues with pumps and lights going missing, they sorted it. They'll make this good. It already programs easier than traditional dosers, I'm waiting for the day when it takes my alk and cal values and sets the dose itself. I believe they are on their way to exactly that...it's just a matter of time..

Well. re-did programming and turned them on auto again. This time I started them dosing into containers and so far it seems to be dosing correctly.

Wonder why? Usually six lines are pretty oblivious....
Nothing like spending an hour chasing a 2" fish around a tank! Been there done that...made a mess.

I agree most of the time...I got a deal on it so I took it...they'll make it right. I'm not worried at all....

Oh yea...Happy Mother's Day Mrs Fish, and other Mommies!

Lowering it slightly help, or does that create a sandstorm?

Lowering it enough to hit the corals on top of my rocks in the tank would kill the surface agitation i have, unless I angle it up which would defeat the purpose in the first place.

And angling it down towards the coral creates too much flow on one spot and have to dial it way back to the point there is very little flow elsewhere.

I'm not saying this thing is bad or anything, but I think they're better off in Long tanks where the flow can spread out towards the center of the tank where mine, the top left and center rocks get little/no flow to them.

Sounds like you said...good for long tanks.

FYI apex owners. New firmware update on neptunes site. Mostly dos enhancements for ddr but also some bug fixes...and other module updates..

Oh and Red, I've had 0 issues with air in the line, and I'm even using the push-connect fittings on my dosing containers. So I'm guessing you just got bad tubing or something.

Well, I did it. Ordered 2x MP10W QuietDrive's.

Like you said Reduck, The tank ate my wallet... -- and my bank account and credit card, etc.

Haha... When I bought my wyoming and snowflake clownfish the other day, my wife goes "Happy Father's Day"... She is getting smart!!!:lolspin:

Yep...don't I know it....so far new tubing is working....
My clam decide to move last night. Waiting to see if it's permanent...or temporary..

Nice and even now.

Started at 8ml of Alk a day along with 1TSP/gal of kalk and I lost about .5 dkh in 1 day.

It's all in the programming. I only missed doses when I tried to outsmart it.

I broke down and preordered the DDR. It will FORCE me to clean the rats nest.
Maybe a 12 step program is needed. I went to do the fw update on Saturday and i couldn't find the apex main unit! it was BURIED under other modules and drivers...I'll do a photo documentary of the process...it should be quite amusing..

GL on that Red lol.
I'm probably gonna have to organize tomorrow when the Vortech's come in.

I did have a question with dosing though.. Say I raise it the dose enough and then the alkalinity starts to rise very slowly. Will it continue to rise until I lower the dosage or will the it kind of settle off into equilibrium once then DKH is high enough.

Essentially what I'm asking is does it take more Alkalinity supplement to maintain a higher alkalinity than it does a lower level?

I believe the answer to that is yes, depending on your salt mix and desired dkh.
I could be completely wrong too..

Probably best asked in the chem forum.

Well, Put the MP10's in and set them in ReefCrest @ 40% and about an hour later I'm getting a LOT more polyp extension off of Acro, Mushroom and Candy Cane..

I gotta say, these QD pumps are dead silent.

Gues mp10s are the way to go. I got a baby hydor 425 and the spin streams....guess I have to upgrade one day

They're not the end all for pumps, other ones are nice also, but their customization is nice.

The Gyre I had moved an insane amount of water, I had it down to about 30%. The only problem in this IM40 tank is that the center has a deadspot where the water just circles around it. It made my acropora rather unhappy.
