Well, Put the MP10's in and set them in ReefCrest @ 40% and about an hour later I'm getting a LOT more polyp extension off of Acro, Mushroom and Candy Cane..
I gotta say, these QD pumps are dead silent.
I hear more noise from my ghost skimmer than anything else on/in my tank
I thought it would've been quiet...guess not
yes, they are. Its a noticeable difference from the originals. I hear more noise from the skimmer and reactor now that I updated to the QD...
How do you have your 2 pumps setup in the tank? what mode and % are you running?
I have them both roughly 6 inches down. Left side about 4 inches from front, right side 4 inches from back
The left is the master, running reef crest, right, slave in anti sync.
I have them both peaking at 55% Much higher and I get sand divots..
At about dinner time, 6PM, I have them in constant speed mode at 50% for the night. Then the RC picks up at 7AM.
Setting it up like this causes a nice gyre effect from front to back, and my coral are all very happy with the motion. I don't see any real dead spots but I also don't have a ton of rockwork either.
I have the pumps set up the same way as well. I go up to 70%, pretty thin sand bed...They go up to 80% at 5 pm in nutrient mode...and come back down to 70 and slowly go to 45% tidal and then 45% constant for the night...and reset at 6 am
Yea, my sand can't do 80%. I tried. Made a mess. If I put them up about one inch I could but I'll also get a vortex on the surface...
It took me a while to figure everything out as well. I feel that the tank is doing well. Took out and got rid of my sps...not feeling it. Kept the birds nest and added another hammer to the garden (metallic green).
Now I think it is time to start looking at upgrading the tank![]()
Oh and Red, I did it. I wanted a duncan so I got one.. But sadly it didnt stop there. I also got a Blue Maxima clam, Trochus snails, Tonga Conch and purple death paly's lol.
Knowing you... just buy it!!!!!
Have you seen this in person? Do they pop?
