Owners Thread: Innovative Marine Fusion 40

Well.. If nothing else. I need more sand...

I started out with a nice 2" sand bed all around the tank, it was nice and level and all the corals could be supported that were in the sand bed..

Right now I have about a 0.5 sandbed all around my tank.. With the exception of around my Diamond gobies rock where the sand is probably 4-5 inches deep. He takes sand from all over the tank and piles it around his hiding spot so its nice and protected on all sides. At least he is more active now; I had to get rid of my Bicolor blenny today.. The blenny was eating Acro, Digi and monti's as well as harassing the goby if he went exploring.

Nope. For the RS 350, have to go to the mp40..glass is too thick. This upgrade is turning into 5k very easily

Have a look at this thread that might be helpful. Tried to find official specs on the glass thickness, but it sounds like the front and back glass are too thick for the MP10s, but the sides are made of thinner glass. Doesn't really make sense, as I would think the entire structure would only be as strong as its weakest component (so why use the thicker glass on two sides of the thinner glass is sufficient?).

I have become use to having no cords coming out of the tank. I believe the wav doesn't do that.

I'm really torn on this, too. I like that the pumps are smart enough to report diagnostics and error conditions back to the Apex. But I also am not thrilled about having a cord in the tank. Obviously conjecture at this point, but I wonder if one could possibly run the cord down the side (assuming mounting in locations similar to Reduck's on the sides), under the sandbed, and maybe up the back that is black. Seems like that might help make the cords blend in and also exit the tank in one location rather than having cords exit the tank in two different locations (on each side). I dunno... I'm honestly not a giant fan of the large dry side motor and thick cable on the MP10s either.

Ha..they do have a personality but can be annoying about the sand. When I add sand..i just get a pvc pipe and slowly pour in the sand from a funnel. Help control the dust up and gets the sand were I want it.

I agree..do not really like the dry side either, but I would take that over the cord coming out the the tank. I do not know how i feel about burying the cord..messing with the sand is never a good idea.

My wife reminded me that we need to drywall the downstairs and we have a trip in a month..so i have put all upgrades on hold. I do not have a couch long enough for me to sleep on.

thats funny. My DWG did the same thing till he had the tank decorated the way HE wanted it. Then he committed suicide by jumping. I guess he figured he had nothing more to live for..

I added another 5-10 lbs of sand.. And man o man, if fish could give an evil look, I got it.

My Goby just sat on side of tank staring at me for an hour or so basically giving me a *** look.

They do have that type of personality! You just gave him a weeks worth of new work..

I came home to a hot tank. 79.8. Floated a bag of ice in the sump and brought it down. Due to the fact I removed one mp to send for service, idiot me forgot to compensate by repositioning the lone pump and cranking it up. Most of the coral were real upset. Now that the pump is centered and cranked up, everyone is waking up....it even effected my ph. Dropped almost 1 whole point due to less surface movement! It's slowly rising now....Jesus I'm stupid at times...
Can't believe how they get so used to high flow...
Hope to have the other pump back by Wednesday night...

Yea. It's been hot around here. Had to get my fan bracket installed. Does a good job too. Turns on at 80 and off at 79. Turns on every 3 hours or so to keep tank cool

Can I have a flame angel in a 40?

To answer question... Yes, as demonstrated in my post that you used :)

I had the flame extremely young and small. He was well behaved and did not bully other fish or eat coral. I lost him when my tank crashes while I was vacation. I wouldn't get another in there... Not worth it.

Bizacon, I meant no disrespect by my question I just am trying to learn. I really like the looks of that fish and wanted to try a small one in my 40. Thanks for your time

Didn't take it disrespectful at all, no need to apologies at all. Thankful that you are asking questions. I personally would advise against it, the risk does not out weights the reward. There a lot of great looking fish with personalities out there.

Hope that helps.

Coupe of things.
First Chemipure Blue is a mix of carbon, gfo and purigen. So if you're running gfo in reactor, purigen and carbon in baskets, the CP is just expensive overkill.

Secondly, a 40 gallon tank is nowhere near big enough for all those fish, a Labrador, a cat and a wife. You need at least 300+ gallons for that.

Yes to your first statement, and :lolspin: to the second!
It better have a tight fitting lid too. Labs can swim!

Yep. Everything is out except for the cpb/purigen and now running chaeto. I did overkill in the beginning, but the bright side was I never got any of heavy cycling crap.

Well done on the second one!!! That pic was last year some time because now my wife is 33. I will tell her one of the guys on the forum called her fat and that she needs a 300 gallon bathtub

Too funny..great way to start the day!

Me too! Too crowded in there!
Specially once you add the wife and dog...
Now Tunze care magnet.
Buy one. You'll love it. Best glass cleaner I've used in a long time.

After looking at my old pic I do like my rock work so much better today.
