Owners Thread: Innovative Marine Fusion 40

I got the nano. It works really well. Only down fall is, you need to be careful and take you time going around corners. It popped off the glass once while making the transition. I'm sure it was just me trying to rush through it before I did my water change. It peels the film off in strips and the tang and blennie gobbled them up.
The big plus is, it hides well. it's black for the most part (unlike Rachel Dolezal) so it blends into the back wall nicely.

What size do you have?

Is it actually black or just identify black?

Got my 20 gallon partially stocked.

If you combined the 20 and the 40....
Nah..looks good. I liked that tank. I almost bought one. It's nice and shallow. Fill that puppy with some color now!
Go lightly on fish. Avoid blennie and gobies. Too shallow. They'll fly outta that tank.

I ALWAYS have a lid on my tank :)

Couple of observations today:
The black-and-white Ocellaris has basically lived in the right rear lower corner of the tank for the last two weeks. Has eaten great, looks great, so I thought it just decided it was going to host the corner glass. Today I came home from work and he's all over the tank... hanging out on the rock, swimming through tunnels, and now that the lights are off he's back to his corner. Completely different behavior than it's had for the last two weeks. Funny little creature!

The Aquamaxx HOB-1, upon contacting tech support, resolved its own micro-bubble issue and is still working great. Gonna have to get some Vicks Vap-O-Rub to put under my nose when I empty the collection cup.

The little zoa colony I got as a starter to see if I could keep them alive seems to be doing great. Gonna have to watch some YouTube videos to sort out the best way to migrate them off the frag post. Any recommendations for a next coral?

Water chemistry still looks great, so I'm very pleased at this point. You guys think the next logical place to spend some money would be on a quarantine tank? I haven't quite been able to sort out where, exactly, I'd put a QT.

Our tanks are QTs.. Don't waste your money. If you had a larger tank or get a 5 million dollar fish, than yes.

Things are moving in the right direction for you. Keep it stable for a couple weeks and then we talk additions. What type of coral do you like sps or lps?

You could simply buy a small hang in tank refugium if you believe you need it. I got one just in case a new occupant doesn't work out or someone turns into a bully..
But really, we are not putting $200 tangs into our tanks, are we?
I would def recommend dipping your corals though..If you trust that your LFS does this, then you maybe ok. If not, dip. Last thing you want to do is introduce some nasties into your tank after all this hard work getting it up and running!

As for coral pics, buy what you like to look at....avoid LPS/SPS right now till the tank has more time to mature...

All I can say is, wow. Ecotech has great service. Got my mp back and I had to actually look to see the prop turning. It's sooooo quiet! And the price was a whole lot cheaper than buying a wet or dry side! They fixed the wet side under warranty! 6 year old pump! I can't even post what they charged me for a brand new dryside!
That is all. Back to your regular programs...

Have any of you thought about modifying the filter areas of the tank to accommodate a full on refugium with miracle mud? I am planning on getting started in the reef part of the hobby, been doing fresh water for a while. I have "drank the Kool-Aid" when it comes to the miracle mud and would love to give it a try.

I have attached a mockup of how I would modify the IM40. Do any of you think this could work? How hard would it be to remove parts of the dividers in the filter areas?

Only thought I've had about modifying it was to raise the dividers up to raise the tank level a little. It's all basically glued up glass and/or acrylic. I don't think you'd have a real hard time removing it with a few sharp blades.
Then just glue it up outside the sump and attach it. It's a pretty tight area to work in...I'd bet they install the sump baffles before they glue the back panel up.
It's a pretty aggressive mod on a pretty well engineered system.

If you do it, document it so we can see the progress!
Good luck!
