Not to be harsh, but these questions are really coming at the wrong time. Part of the mission of COMAS is to promote responsible reefkeeping. And that means to research a purchase (thoroughly) BEFORE you make the buy.
Now, maybe you did....and I am off here....and these are just follow up questions. And if that is the case, I sincerely apologize. However, if not, please consider being proactive with these questions before your next purchase.
As for a REAL response, the first question I have is: how big is this tank? If this is the 44gal tank described in your footer, that is staggeringly too small for a
Blue Tang. Consider this - that fish has a maximum size of about 12 inches and has a natural habitat in the wild on the order of square MILES. The lowest standard size for a blue tang would be closer to a 100 gallon tank.
Another question, how big is it now? I suppose I can be more understanding if the fish is now small (3 inches?) and you have plans for what to do with him when he outgrows your tank.
And lastly, where did you buy this fish? Who sold him to you? Did the store owner inquire upon the size of your tank?
Again, I apologize for the harshness of my post. However, we have a responsibility to the creatures we keep in our aquariums. Such details described above should not be neglected.
