Padrino's 220 Upgrade

Just a thought - why not open at least a window on the tank's right side onto the family room?

Or is it too late? :o

Dave.M

Dave,
I initially wanted this, there were a few items preventing this though.
A. My wife did not want it as she thought it would put too much light into our family room where the TV is.... basically it should stop there however
B. Once i pulled the walls apart, i physically could not make a window dues to the house structure and the amount of 2x6s in that wall. Also partly an outside wall into the garage.
C. That is where the external overflow will be. ;)

Welcome aboard
Rob

Hey Rob,

You have a BEAUTIFUL new home (I know I'm late, but CONGRATULATIONS!!!).. I am loving the floor and molding work! This is going to be an exciting build. Best wishes to you.. Subscribed!

Jon,
Thanks man. I posted some pics of the dining room i re-did at the end of my 90 gal build thread. You could also see what it used to look like before i bought it. Truthfully the most amount of work was removing the stucco ceiling and making them all smooth on the main floor. Lot of tedious work but i'm really glad i did it.

Good to see you on board!

You definitely have some skills. Wish I could do something like that.
Tagging along also...

Very nice. Following with interest (Ideas :fun2:)

Thanks guys and welcome. Keep in mind that all of that work was done in 4 months along with other projects. I will not be able to keep up at this speed so this thread may slow a bit. But it will be worth the wait in the end.
Rob

Rob, I really enjoyed your last build. I'm in on this one for sure. Congrats on the new house and tank.

Thanks man! great to have you along!! Hopefully i will bring something much better and different to this thread for all of you to enjoy. I have a few different ideas that i want to incorporate into my fish room.. Now none of this set in stone.....

possibly a Keg fridge and possibly small frag tank that would run off a surge system. Well see what happens and how creative i get over the next few months

Rob

Genius! If my situation permitted it I would have loved to had my 220 be a three side viewable external overflow peninsula. I've heard peninsula tanks can be kind of hard to aquascape, but with 30" of width I'm sure its going to look amazing. The hole in the wall for pipes/cords and the utility sink are great ideas. Any chance you could have some tiny mini fridge in the sink cabinet to store frozen food for feeding the fish?

Definitely subscribed!

Had a look at your last thread. That was a really nice tank. Judging from the last tank I bet this will be awesome. You have a really beautiful house too! Look forward to this build thread very much.

Considering it sounds like you did most of the house remodeling yourself, I think we need to see more pictures of the rest of the house as well.

Loving this build so far.....

Looking good.
I always enjoy seeing "local" tank builds

Looks great so far man.

Lloyd

Thanks guys! I'm glad you enjoyed the last thread, This build will have much more renovations as it is my house where the last build was in my fathers place. My 90 gallon reef is still situated there until i get moving downstairs. I will try and get a picture of what the tank currently looks like.

Alex,
Correct, I did all the renos within the house. I had some help from time to time as sometimes you require an extra set of hands. Especially when doing crown molding.

I'll try and take a couple other shots later. I have only really worked on the main floor and I started framing in the fishroom which I will get into later this week.

I enjoy people who dont mess around .. Definantly going to be tagging along for this one!

Welcome aboard! I am trying to get a drawing done of the area i have to work with in the basement so everyone can visualize the opportunities. Like I mentioned earlier, I am researching radiant heating idea so when i go into the fishroom it isn't so cold on the feet.

Well here are two pictures i took from my phone a long time ago. Notice the original orange beam that was installed by the builders. I have installed the black beams along with a 8' piece of C channel. The reason for this was the area i wanted to brace was not accessible as there is monster HVAC plumbing in the way. So i was able to get enough clearance between the HVAC and floor joists.

And this was when i was starting to move the existing laundry room down stairs.
