I would like to thank all of those that followed my initial 90 gallon build thread. It is located here:

Now for the moment that many have been asking for, I am finally starting a separate thread for the new tank build. Here will be some of the highlights to look forward too:

1. 3 sided starfire peninsula tank 60"L x 30"W x 28"H drilled for close loop w/ocean motion
2. Separate fish room BUILD located in the basement below
3. LED lighting upgrade

I will do my best to update the thread with updates when possible. I have recently been away from Reef Central when i first purchased this house and then with all the renovations on the main floor. So there has been a large gap. I hope you all enjoy and feel free to ask any questions you may have while reading through.

I just I should start with where I am planning to put the tank. I tossed a few ideas at the end of my 90 gallon build using photos i took during the home inspection. After much thought, I have decided to take over the laundry room and use it as the main display area. Here are the only photos i have really of the laundry room. Its on the main floor, off of the main hallway and has an entrance to the garage.
Here is the laundry room. Its small and very hard to get a good shot inside due to size.

Now I had some serious ideas, so I went to work. Floors were okay but i have an expensive taste..
The washer and dryer were relocated downstairs (I will post pictures of this later as it will be within the mechanical room/fish room)

The sink was just thrown out.. or its still in my garage and i need to get rid of it.

Now into the hallway and the outside wall that will disappear

Since I was replacing all the tile with nice porcelain tiles, I also had to rip my kitchen out to do the job properly. You will see from the next photos how the tank will be situated with the rest of the house

ya i broke a shovel lifting the old ceramics, BTW I had already removed a lot of tile by the time I took these photos

I started to cut back the drywall within laundry room only to find every type of service that had to be removed and/or relocated

Next jumping right to the good stuff

With everything now open, it had time to think about how i wanted to lay out the display room.

You can see in the last photo, that I already completed the new sub-floor and re-routed a bunch of services. The next thing I did was I wanted to install a separate light over the new utility sink area. You will see this later in some of the finished pictures.

I also wanted to beef up the ceiling so no matter what light fixture/rack/rail/idea I decide to go with, I will have lots of mounting opportunities throughout the entire ceiling. Here are some pictures to reference.

While my wife wasn't around I extended the wall by a few 2x6 so i could fit the 30" width i wanted. Hahahahaha I still don't think she knows.

I also removed the small ceiling fan that was originally installed. 50-70CFM?? and installed an ultra quiet 150 CFM ceiling fan in as a "JUST IN CASE MY HRV FAILS"

Now to make it look like it was supposed to be there, I build a valance and installed 2 electrical plugs up there so I could plug in a light fixture and not have the cords coming down the wall.

By now I already had the Procelain tiles installed. They are basically 12"x24" installed in a staggered pattern.

I love that a revamp of the fishroom necessitated a complete kitchen remodel because, otherwise, the tile simply wouldn't match .

Here is what this room has turned into. I perfect spot for a large aquariums that will be viewable from three sides giving a total of 12'6" linear feet of viewing pleasure.

The cut a hole in the wall to allow me to run all of the necessary plumbing to and from the aquarium to the fishroom. This way it was not going to be more holes to cut into the tile while installing. The other 2 holes in the floor are the existing cold air returns that were in the existing wall that I took down. I will build a proper duct into the stand when I start that project.

So far this is all that has been completed in preparation for the aquarium. A lot of time has been spent at work recently and completing other renos in the house to please the wife. At this point I'm very happy with the work I have done. I started framing in the fishroom about a month ago after I re-installed the washer and dryer downstairs. That will be the next part of build that will likely take quiet a while.

HAHA sort of. There were a few reasons behind that.
A. I wanted a nicer tile.
B. In order to install it properly, I had to remove all the cabinets and rip the old stuff out. The new porcelains are substantially thicker
C. Since I knew that the wall would come out eventually it was better to do it now and this would allow me to properly correct the floor. This would mean that the sub-floor and tiles would flow through this area properly thus better distributing the weight accordingly. I also made some changes under the floor downstairs but ill save that for later this week.
