Padrino's 220 Upgrade

Thats some fancy flooring for a basement/fishroom, but I guess with the washer/dryer down there you guys will be there a lot. Does it still maintain a slope to the floor drain?

I have been leveling the tiles as it goes closer to the old drain (now enclosed within the mechanical room) and appliances. Where the sump and frag system will go along the wall it is sloped toward the groutline which leads to the drain. I hope i never have to use it.

Thanks man!

My wife wanted pedestals for the appliances but they cannot even fit a large container of detergent. So i built a stand and will be able to just squeeze in a 12" cabinet beside them anyways here is what I have been busy with. I just have a small section to do left and I'm done the floor in this room. Here are some pics

Is that so u don't have to bend much

Not to answer for Padrino, but yes. Front loading washer/dryers are much easier on the back if raised up, not to mention it's much easier to see what's going on inside them when they are higher. Great job on the tile work btw.

Padrino, incredible DIY skills. That tile is beautiful. I thought you were an engineer, sure you aren't a contactor?

I noticed you have a vapor barrier in your fishroom/mechanical room. Are you planning to separate your furnace/AC/Water heater from your fishroom with a vapor barrier and separate intake? From the photos earlier in this thread it looked like you had installed an air-to-air exchanger which may negate the need to separate the two?

Thanks brett, you're right on the money.

Thank you! Yes I am an mechanical engineer not a contractor however i do enjoy building and renovations quite a bit. I am quite anal and i try to wrap my head around each project so that i can analyze and how it will interfere with upcoming future projects.

To answer your question, yes i have created a mechanical room where the following will be located:
furnace
HRV
water softener
electrical panel
Sump pump
ato
Salt water mixing station
ro/di setup.

This area will be closed in however only the outside walls will be insulated. Since the hrv is interlocked and plumbed into the furnance it provides fresh air to the entire house via the forced air system. Does that answer your question?

Certainly does answer my question. Thanks!
If you wouldn't mind, I'd like to get your opinion via PM on my fish room/ mechanical room build. I'm having a difficult time deciding the best route for my boiler/water heater and their proximity to my frag tank/sump. I'll send over more information in a PM so not to detract from your thread.

Thanks again for sharing your progress. I can appreciate the time you are spending on your home renovations/remodels! Outstanding work.

I'm following along and look forward to your progress!

Very nice build Padrino. I recently set up a similar sized tank, 60"x36"x24", though my tank swap went very quickly....I can't imagine dual Abyzz pumps on that tank, plus that return. Your water will certainly be churning.
