Padrino's 220 Upgrade

Thank you for the continued interest. To answer your question, yes there has been some updates but much slower than before, (I know im sure many people have lost interest in this build thread by now). My wife is 7.5 months pregnant so I have been spending most of my free time trying to get things ready. I also have been researching and designing a CNC machine that I will plan to make in my garage. This will ultimately help me build awesome items for my reef system and others in the hobby.

So far, I have designed a complete automatic water change reactor which I am very excited about. I have about 40% of the items to make my first prototype which i expect to have completed in the next 2 or 3 weeks. Once I have a CNC machine, I will be able to do everything in house from design to full scale manufacturing.

Other than that, a local friend tore down his 300 gal and I scored 2 nice yellow tangs and mangroves for 30 dollars all of which are in my sump.

This build is taking longer than I expected but with a baby in the near future and my wife going on mat leave, I don't exactly know when I will have it running just yet. I have made my mind on how I am going to wire the abyzz pumps - just run a 220 GFCI breaker from my panel up to 2 separate boxes under the stand. I was initially thinking of running a UPS in sequence with them but I feel like that will be very difficult to do as its 220V and installing a ups will vito the GCFI. (unless I hack up a UPS but don't think I want to do that) Once I have power to those pumps, I can at least fill the tank with tap water to test it and verify the floor tiles will not crack, ect, ect. I hope I can get that down before the baby comes but well see. It certianly doesn't give me much time.

You've got a LOT on your plate..I think the majority of us will be following along and waiting patiently.

On another note, designing/acquiring a CNC is taking everything to a new level, one I have not seen here on RC. My buddy and I have talked about how awesome it would be to have one for years. Bravo to you for making it happen!

Thanks guys! Yes I have alot of work ahead of me.

Dave,
Funny I have read that entire PDF. I will strive for 0.001" or less tolerances and will be building it from 3/4" ground aluminum and high precision automation components. I will be sure to add pics and videos once its up. It will help me build awesome gear though!! Right now, I'm focused on getting my auto water change reactor prototype made. Perhaps make some extra for others to buy. I want to build a CNC that has a working area of minimum 24"x48" therefore I project the CNC project will cost between 5 -6k once completed. So I have a ways to go before I can dish that out. However, I'm making head way.

Thanks for chiming in!
Cheers
Rob

Simply Amazing, Tagging along

Jim,
Thanks for the compliments, btw how is that octobubble I traded you doing?

Plumbing looks awesome. Clean build! Looking forward to more!

Thanks I am currently working on a automatic water change metering reactor. I have finally received most of the materials and should have the first prototype within the next 2 weeks.

Any updates for us! I am waiting anxiously to see your progress! :spin3:

Yeah its been a while, I know.... here goes.

I haven't really done much lately in terms on progress in the tank. I am still running my system out of my sump. I currently house a large colony of Duncans and a nice Flame anemone. Also in there are 3 yellow tangs, a green wrasse, a small tomato clown and a lawnmower blenny. I am still waiting for Vertex to send me a Cerebra, it has been forever!

I still have not had a chance to integrate my water change reactor and I have no real excuse. I hope to get this completed soon. However, I have been working on a machine to help me manufacture more items for this industry. So maybe that counts as a good excuse???

As described a while ago, I told everyone that I was going to build a CNC machine, well I have been working on it and it continues to evolve every week. Here is a picture of my current progress.

YEAH BABY!!

oh did i mention, My wife and I expected our first child, a beautiful baby girl, Alessia 6 weeks ago. So I've been busy! But we must continue to move forward! this thread may move slower than ever before.. (wait, is that even possible?) But we will move forward!
Stay Tuned

Cheers

Congratulations to you and your wife Padrino. It is truly a beautiful thing bringing in another beautiful life into the world.

Congradulations! Boy or a Girl? First?
Great build thread. Im gaining a ton of insite. I've been working on my build for over a year as well. I've done a ton of research, and I've changed my mind on what I'm going to do as much.
