Well mine didn't last 24 hours and was dead when I woke up this morning. It looked really rough from shipping and even after acclimation just laid on its side in the tank. Poor fish, I'm pretty bummed about it.
I think fairys are more hardy than flashers
Yes he said next shipment is july 17th
This is me thing I have never understood about this hobby. You have these diamond tail flashers that are rarer than the rhomboids and lineatus but are cheaper than the two. I don't see how the rhomboids and lineatus keep their price tags when they are readily avaliable. The same goes for other certain fish, I now this is not the same but I have seen more Gem tangs for sale in the past two years than Black tangs. Yet the prices are very far apart. I would guess I have seen 10 Gem tangs in person for sale this year and only one BT in person this year for sale.

This is easy. The retailer mispriced the attenuatus. Many people would have paid $500 a piece. Lucky for the new owners.

It wasn't mispriced, I got mine from a LFS for 250. The pricing seems legit as NY was selling them for 20 less than I paid. Although I didn't have to pay shipping and I got to see my fish before I bought it. On a side note I only live 45 minutes from NY Aquatic as well, but that is not where I got mine.
If you know anything about retail/economics, trust me, it was priced below what the market was willing to pay. Just because you paid $250 doesn't mean you wouldn't have paid more if the starting price was higher, especially with the knowledge that this fish might not be available for quite some time. And if you weren't willing to pay more than $250, there's a line of people behind you willing to do so.
Absolutely, yes.I think fairys are more hardy than flashers
The Paracheilinus genus are all commonly referred to as flashers. Primarily due to how they can flash their fins while changing to some additional colors. Why you call them flashers, because they are fast? Or because they change colors?

That's one factor for sure. But there are a lot of factors in retail prices. You have all touched on a few more of them in some subsequent postsI think it also has to do with cost of living in the collecting country
Ditto; mine started acting quite well come Tuesday. Seems 3 days of rest were needed.Mine is dramatically better today. Even some flashing. Love it!!!![]()
And me as well.Very true, I honestly would have
