If you dremel it, I would suggest you carefully cut it in a few different areas, to remove a piece at a time. Once you pluck out the first one or two 'slices', it will be easier to get out the rest.

I think you are right. But if I dont get it right that way, I am basically up a creek....

I would cut the piece out. Thank god it is threaded. I would cut the other piece off of the union fitting and buy a new union and threaded coupling. plumb it all together and you are golden!

I hear you on that one, but I just look at it as a challenge to grow it out to a colony size. Besides there are plenty of people and places that still sell colonies at reasonable prices.

On another note my blue jaw and tang have ich. I have a cleaner shrimp and goby in the tank and have been soaking their food in garlic. Should I just let it run its course? What would you do?

I've rarely had to deal with ich in my tanks, and when I saw it, I fed the fish extra well. That allowed the fish to have the energy to fight off the infection. It was probably more wishful thinking than being proactive, but catching infected fish from my reef would be challenging, even with a fish trap.

I haven't dealt with it in a few years. I should of known that the tang from the LFS would get ich and spread it to my blue jaw. I guess I will just let it go and hope that the cleaner shrimp will clean the fish up.

It is always best to quarantine new arrivals (fish or corals) for a few weeks before introducing them to your system.

I told you what I would do.

The problem with Ich is that it stays in the system forever, until your run it fallow for six weeks. That is the only way to eliminate it. All the fish need to be treated (hyposalinity is one method), so they don't bring Ich back into the tank.

You can just keep going the same direction, hoping for the best and dealing with outbreaks from time to time, or be proactive to prevent it from getting into your tank with any future additions. Just like you do for AEFW, nudis, whelks, red bugs, etc.

It tends to enter tanks on fish. So if the hobbyist starts off the tank with proper quarantining procedures and never pours other people's water in his tank, it is possible to keep it ich-free.

The blenny is great, I love how his colors change with his mood. The wrasse is a New Guinea wrasse, I traded for him from another local reefer and he has been fat and happy for the past few weeks. The glass is 1/2 inch on the front and sides.

I have all of the fish accept one goby in the QT tank. I started to drop the salinity last night and should be down to 1.010 by the end of tonight. Hopefully leaving the tank fish less for 2 months will kill off the ich. Next time they get QT'ed on the way in.

I was wondering if I would see any changes in my sps since I won't be feeding the display tank as much?
