PC lighting on clams

I got a derassa clam in my 40 gal. breeder tank which is 16" high sitting on the sandbed under 92 watts 6700K/10000K daylight and 92 watts 420nm/460nm actinic. So far is doing great and growing. Was wondering if I could put another type of clams in my set-up besides a derassa with this type of lighting?

you might be able to add a squamosa but i wouldn't do it. your lighting is really pushing it as far as clams go. actinics do little for photosynthesis so your really looking at the 65k and 10k light for the clam.

No don't add another clam. Save your money and buy either a t5, or mh lighting system. Then add more clams. Your current clam may look fine now but the harm of not enough light has long term effects you may not see now.

Derasas, squamosa, and gigas clams can do well under PC lighting without adverse affects. However, to survive looong term T5 and metal halide will be your best bet.

Remember maximas and croceas are strictly metal halide only and HO T5's
