PC replacement bulbs

I bought a used Coralife Aqualight 2 X 65 W and I want to replace the bulbs (straight pin). What other brands will work with this fixture and what brands and which particular bulbs do you recommend? I noticed that Drs. Fostr & Smith has Sunpaq bulbs for good prices. Thanks!

I recommend replacement bulbs from Current. Great quality and never had a problem. I usually get them from drsfostersmith.com or thatfishplace.com whichever has the sale at that time.

Yes the bulbs are called Sunpaq or SmartPaq, etc. depending on which one it is. I now use the 130W PC's so my choices are very limited. Though when I was using the other wattages, my choice was (1) full 10k bulb and (1) 420/460nm actinic. (For a 2 bulb setup.) This produced the best amount of growth, keeping aesthetic appearance in mind. My opinion/experience is that the dual actinic bulb brings out the most fluoresence because it peaks on both 420 and 460nm, bringing out different colors than just 420 or 460 alone.

Yes, I was considering swapping the Sunpaq dual actinic bulb for the 03 actinic that came with my Coralife setup. I was also thinking about swapping the straight 10000k Coralife bulb for the combo 6700k/10000k Sunpaq bulb but was wondering if that would give off too much of a yellow appearance with the 6700k.

ahsupply.com is a class operation. you can also try lightbulbsdirect.com they have some PC and Halide stuff on the site but they can get you about anything. Good prices too. I got some GE 9325K PC's for my plant tank for $15 each.

Dr. Fosters and Smith have regular sales of Current PC's as well as others. I know there is a huge sale going on right now, perhaps if you check it out before the time is up you can cash in on a sweet deal. Good Luck!
