I have a 35 hex with a 150 watt MH coralife light. My Purple Death pays and kindda brown looking(definately not purple). They are close the bottom of the tank but aren't shaded at all.Sould I move them higher or try to give them some shade to get the more purple color?

Usually when i see these posts its because the water is a little dirty. Whats your water testing at po4, and nitrate wise?

Will test tomarrow, getting ready for be now.Checked all levelslast week and my ph was a little low, like 8.0 if I remember correctly.Everything else was ok.

more light the browner it gets, a little less light more purple.

I concur with delsol. Although I have yet to figure out how to make the polyps bigger as my PDs tend to be on the smaller side.

I have this problem with my NGs. I think this comes down to light too....indirect light seems to get me larger PD polyps.

these were pics a long time ago. but the rack is 1/2 way up the tank in the back with 8T5s. the size is about a nickle or so. U can compare the PPEs on the left as well as the Jokers too. to see how big the Protopalys are.
they're recieving good to strong flow.

delsol - I think I'd die if my PDs and NG grows that big! Do you find the PPEs prefer strong flow as well?

BTW I'm working on following the tips you gave me.

They're ok where they're at. The PD's and NG's take the brunt of the flow. buy the time it gets to the PPE's, the flow isn't as bad.

The other 2 frags that I have of PPE's seem to grow bigger all the way on the sand and away from direct flow but gets good IN-DIRECT flow.
