Perc. clowns and GBTA questions.

A few years ago we had a mated pair of Perc. clowns that hosted a sabae nem. They all did exceptionally well.
Anyhow, now to my current situation. I have a mated pair of perc. clowns and GBTA, however the clowns have not hosted the nem...yet. The fish and nem seem to be doing fine. I've never owned a GBTA and wanted to know a few things if anyone can help. First, is it normal for them to close up for the night? Secondly, will perc's host a GBTA?

Thanks for any help!

It is normal for them to close up, I wouldn't worry. And a GBTA is not the natural host for perculas, but they will sometimes work it out anyway.

Thanks for the info. I've been out of the hobby for a few years so things are slowly coming back to me but opinions and help from others makes it faster ;)!

My female perc accepted a bubble tip. I lost the bubble tip in a move, now she uses a large colony of star polyps.

Mine were hosted by BTA's in a nem specific tank, but like others I've read about it seemed to fade out the black color in my clowns for some reason.

Mine have yet to even check out the GBTA but they sure do love the grass! This particular GBTA was hosted by a Tomato clown at the LFS. The clown was very aggressive with too, rubbing/hitting it very hard! The nem never fully inflated and stayed smaller than the size of a baseball as I was told by the LFS owner. In just a week and a half it has found it's "sweet" spot, fully extends daily(now the size of a softball), and eats like a horse! Just needs to color back up now.

Thank you all for the responses!

I've found that if there's competition for the BTA the percs will go for it, but simply having it in there will not necessarily induce them to host. Could happen; could not happen. Just depends. I had five in a tank once and they hosted in a BTA for a while - I think due to there being competition. Then I bought a ritteri and they completely abandoned the BTA.
