Perry's 120 Gallon Reef

Love the colors in those latest pics Perry, things are looking very healthy mate. Your color contrasting with coral placement is awesome, it makes a big difference as i'm sure you know buddy

Andrew, thank you very much! Placement is key, otherwise those darn ricordeas would not be where they are currently. Unfortunately they were placed there by original owner, I like the rock too much to bust it up, one day I am for sure, lol. :hammer: Other than that one, I have a leather with zoas that needs trimming and possible removal. Thank you on the contrasting, learned that a long time ago, spread your colors, too much of one thing in one area looks muted. Still a work in progress though mate :)

I would just about assassinate anyone for a piece of Hawkins :P in particular a piece of your's Perry ;)
Acro's are looking stunning mate and I love the layout of the tank and the monti corner :)

Thanks Dom,
You are too funny, too bad you don't live closer :) Monti corner is still a work in progress, but right now have a huge chunk of seasons greeting, red plate, Idaho grape, and jedi mind trick. I will likely not add too many more to that corner, they are already fairly large corals...

Looking awsome bud i like that RR stag too.

Thanks Dan, that stag has never looked so red, I had one in the past, never passed redish brown...lol

Corals are looking great buddy. Loving the Monti corner. Thats a good idea! :)

Since Buggles has already posted, I feel safe enough to say that the Indo torch looks awesome.

Lol,
Yeah, I have to keep the peace in the house with certain corals, that happens to be one of them, I think my lady has already given up hope on the frogspawn, but the torch and rics are going nowhere... or else :uzi:
Then monti corner is only in its beginning phase, but we will have to see what happens

Too bad indeed, I'd have to come steal some of that jedi mind trick too! :lol2: It's a great looking corner with a really nice mix of colours! It's going to look even better once they all start to intertwine and growout more :D

Nice new photos!
Love that Hawkins. Very jealous.. I finally got a frag but it's white and tiny... Never good in a frag..
Red planet looks great as well.

Great photos Perry! I'm not a big LPS guy, but that Indo Torch is a stunner! I'm going to have to take some advice from you and Biggles on coral placement.

Wow perry, that Red Planet looks excellent, all the corals look happy as can be.

Thanks Mark, the planet is taking off!!! I am stoked to see such rich color in the reds, while maintaining the green around the base, such a beautiful coral, thanks again for taking notice

Oh man, you can have as much as you want, you have to come to the states though mate :) If you ever were in the neighborhood, I would cut you any frag you want, that's how I roll.... :bounce3:

Matt, I used to not be able to keep this one, for whatever reason, now I cannot keep it's growth down, I have a recovery piece that I gave up on, that is now a mini colony, funny how stuff works like that... Soon I will have to frag the main colony, looks like I better get a frag tank going, lol...

Nate, Biggles is the man, I am just a grasshopper, lol... I appreciate the kind words, just know all my corals, how they grow, the proper color, ect... Makes it easy on color balance, and how to space them. Contrast is truly in the eye of the beholder. Best to you!!!

Awesome pics, gotta love the RP. I have one as well

Wow, Thanks so much for the love :) My RP is showing it back with insane PE.... LOL.... I find this one to be a beauty, one of my favorites, I am a sucker for red corals...

red planet looks awesome buddy and i'm happy it's growing like a weed, that's always something to enjoy:)

Can i please ask for some more pics of the RR stag?Looks amazing!

Mike, thanks for the compliments, and since you asked so nicely, lol :) Here is a front view and top down for you :)

Wow. Love these!
That rp is pure red.

Matt thank you, I have a top down viewer made from acrylic, I just take top downs with auto focus, I use mode where I can see the screen on my camera to take the pics. I have a hood, so it is kind of hard to make photos. Anyway, I have some additional photos from this AM, I was kinda encouraged after 3 cups of coffee, lol...

I love how the Red Robin looks, mine is getting closer but still best described as brown. Very jealous! :D More pics!

Mark,
Thanks, I appreciate the love for the Red Robin. I keep mine high in the reef, and as far as colors go, I do enhance with a few zeo supps, and also Salifert Hard Trace. Nutrients are low, but I also still brush the glass every 3 days, sometimes more. I know nutrients are present, but still low at the same time, skimmer is the workhorse on this system :) Ok so you twisted my arm, a few more for the day, lol...

I do the same thing to take top down shots. My halides are low so I can just fit my camera with the macro lens under them while sitting in the viewing box.
You have to be careful, though. I have already dipped my macro lens in the tank once!! Thank goodness for weather seals on the canon L lenses..

Matt,
I agree lol, I have dipped a lens in the past too :) Top downs do however show you colors that you take for granted, I am so happy with the colors lately :)
