That is a crazy piece of Acro!
Must be amazing as a colony.

Hope so, speaking of Canada. I just married a girl from Toronto a few weeks ago..... an import.

And her cousin is staying the night with us from Australia and ticking me off with all of her stories of their beaches and reefs :hmm4:

This shows the deeper red/purple

Sorry to thread jack perry!! I'm just excited about this milli :)

LOL...
Charles, I think your AT looks more vibrant than mine, now if all your frags start showing better coloration than in my tank, particularly the ones I snipped for you, I may have to lock this thread, lol... No hijacking worries here, anyone is welcome to post up pics and have discussions, I am not that kind of guy :) Congrats again on the wedding, glad you got a good one this go around! Beer and reefs, and our ladies actually really like this stuff, oh man I think we both hit the jackpot! Looks like we need to get that cookout going here real soon! Anyway, I love the crazy pics you posted of your AT, I white balanced them on picassa, the colors are insane bro!!!

Tell me when and we will do it!!

I doubt my colors will touch yours, you've got the reefer thumb with nutrients to support richer colors that I'll never be able to see. Only way I can keep a tank is to cheat with the BB and ULNS :)

Let me know when that cook out is!
I want to sample a bit of that acid trip first hand!! :bum:

Wait a month, you can come down and defrost!!

I went up last January to visit the now wife and I swore I would never go to Canada in January again. It's inhumane

Each winter EVERY Canadian swears they will never go to Canada again in January...... We always end up here...
Isn't that the definition of insanity? ... Or stupidity... Knowing the outcome, but doing the same thing over and over again....

Update Time:

Parameters:

Alk- 7.92 a tad high, 7.34 desired
CA- 420 dialed in to my desired level
Mag- 1300 tad low, will be bringing up to 1350
S.G.-1.0255
PO4- 0.00
NO3- 0.00

Observations:

So thinking of the alk rising slowly, it makes complete sense as I lost a few larger colonies a while back, my consumption rate was not adjusted, nor did I test, I must admit my levels were tested today, and the last test I noted in my journal was back in middle September, oouuchh..... my bad :) I tend to observe more, so nothing showed any signs of stress, and this increase happened over a couple of months, so no ill effects. To my surprise though, I have NO nutrients now, the chaeto and light additions of zeostart have me way too low. I have seen a few corals go a bit lighter on me, so I have to get some more fish and will be supplementing amino s real soon, likely I will use salifert, they were really good back in the day. Since my fish losses, I have now observed normal behavior out of all fish, tangs are grazing, all others eating well. My 5 fish are mostly the cause to nutrients dropping to undetectable, the salifert test was crystal clear, not even a hint of pink in the test result... I snapped a few random pics, still happy with color, and so here we go... :)

Oh, BTW, Matt and Charles on board for a cookout, let's keep this in mind next time Macna rolls into Orlando, that invitation I am sure goes out to all you Canooks, Aussies, and every thing in between, lol...

Loving this $10 brown out :)

Nice update, Perry.
Even with 0 nutrients, the corals are still looking pretty rich in the photos anyways.
Looking good!

Looking great!! Loving the shaggy Belina!
I haven't seen that coral in along time !
Everything is looking nice and healthy ! Great job

Thanks Matt,
The chaeto in my sump is pulling nutrients like crazy, that and I only have 5 fish in the 120. Anyway, I am feeding the fish a few times per day, and have a bottle of aminos on the way. My Rommels Watermelon bleached ever so slightly, no tissue issues, but thinking it did not respond well to nutrient drop.

+1,great job perry:thumbsup:
Can't wait to see that 10d frag coloring up!

Thanks Mike, color is the game, lol....

Thanks Arlin,
The Belina has been very stubborn, the polyps are quite shaggy, so it hides the base of the coral, however the purple is intensifying, so it is now easier seen through the polyp madness.... :) Still not sure if I want to keep it where it is, always trying to move things around to find the sweet spot for each coral, never ending....

Yet another update:
A couple of weeks back I noticed that the chiller was running all the time, which in turn the ac was running all the time, so I noticed it took hours to bring the temp down 2 degrees, this 1/3hp should easily handle 120 gallon. So, I took the chiller offline, and started running a fan over the sump, it did pretty good, but peek temp with AC on 77 during the day, when nobody is home, the tank was still breaching 81 degrees, with sump doors open, and the hood cracked. This was not going to work for me, I do not really want to hassle and quick fix my chiller, so I decided to make it's repair a "project" and remove the hood from my tank and suspend my lighting with cables.... WOW.... Should have done this a long time ago, the tank is so much easier to work on, and it looks 10x better, moreover, the other half really liked it, so here is my most recent mod/update....

Mine reaches 81 daily, I have my cooling fans set to come on at 81.5 which rarely do.

Maybe I'm running a bit on the hot side. With winter coming (yea right) I might start transitioning my tank to cooler temps.

Tank looks awesome with the hood off!! Will that fan angle down to blow towards the waters surface?

Charles,
Thank you for the kind words :) I pulled the fans from the hood and attached 2 of them together. They are zip tied to the return pvc pipes. The fans blow across the water, not heavy though, I run them constant. I also have a fan that blows down onto the water in the sump, it is set to come on when main lights come on. With this combo, and the temp on AC set to 74/75 at night when we are home, and 77 during the day. The peak temp is during the day when the AC is at 77, all lights on, the tank is at 78.5 max. When home and temp set to 74/75, the tank gets down to 76.5. The temp gradually ramps up during peak lighting hours, then slowly dips back down, so far everything seems really happy...
