Perry's 120 Gallon Reef

Just love it Perry! Simply excellent and I'm stoked to hear that things are going well since being moved into the frag tank :) The new scape is kickass!! it's going to look amazing once it's covered again :D

All the very best to you and your family mate :) I hope the new year brings you plenty of goodness!

I'm really interested to see it with the acros placed, things are looking great Perry! Happy New Years!

Thanks Josh, I appreciate the kind words, the display will look good once I get things moved over. Will start that process in Feb. Happy New Year!

HAPPY NEW YEAR PERRY !!!

Daniel

Thanks Daniel, back at you man!!! Happy New Year!

Happy new year Perry, the new rock work looks good to me mate. You create a beautiful SPS reef with the positioning of the corals, not the rocks themselves to any great extent.
I hope the AF method works a treat for you buddy, if Sahin can manage it i'm pretty sure anyone over the age of five can.......:reading:

Your version of porn is X rated buddy :)

Thanks Mate, I appreciate your feedback, I always admire your colors, so the advice is well taken. Hopefully I will have colors like yours one day mate:)

Absolutely! The rockscape is really just important to give you something nice to look at until the Acros grow in! :D

Excellent, sounds good! Are you keeping it BB then?

Hey Mindy,
I agree, the scape is more open than it looks, but once those acros are positioned, I don't think anyone will really notice, the taper down will help me utilize vertical space, the tank at 24" deep with no sandbed needs any help it can get. The taper down will allow me to position the corals in the ideal spot for proper lighting. Yes, I will stay BB, it is way easier than maintaining a sandbed, for this I added 2L of siporax in a TLF larger RX... I have another reactor that will be housed with Phos Minus and AF carbon. I will also employ a zeovit RX with AF zeolites, I am going to use .5L of zeolite, only because I have a small fish supply now. When it increases, so will my total volume of zeolites. Happy New Year!

Thanks Mate, I am glad you like it! I will move acros over in Feb, this is good since I can closely monitor acros in the frag tank while converting over to the AF lineup. Happy New Year Mate!!!

Update Time :)

As a wise man named Biggles once said...."Sorry to see you needing to go through all this Perry, sucks mate but at least the reboot will be fun and you can fix all those scaping issues that bug all of us at one time or another." This advice is spot on, I decided to once and for all, position rocks so the low corals stay low, and the middle to top part of my reef for sps, mainly acros. So, a re-scape was accomplished a couple of days ago, hands all cut up, infected from handling live rock, but that did not stop me, so here is my 2016 new reef start!!!

Those are awesome frags and colonies! If I had it to do over the selections I would make would be top shelf only. It looks like you will be starting with really nice pieces.

Matt,
Thanks for the kind words! Hopefully I will be getting a 3rd tank soon, looking at the AIO Nuvo 25 with the AI prime LED. This tank will be a place to keep all non sps, it will actually be Cindy's(GF) tank, she likes the non-sps stuff, so I can rid my tank of softies, lps, and stock her's without coming out of pocket, at least until she figures out what master scoly's are, then I am in trouble :) Once I am all sps in both of my tanks, my dream will begin, which is to have an all sps display, and a collector's frag tank with all my top shelf sps that I acquire. I already have assembled a nice collection, but will be adding a few KILLER pieces soon:) Anyway, thanks for checking in!

Hi Perry, happy New Year to you! I like the new scape, and those sure are some incredible frags and colonies in the last few pics. I like the bb, and I must say, your frag tank is reminiscent of palobi's display. Very clean, and easy to move stuff around. I'm sorry to hear about the job, but it sounds like you're in a good position to get some work done that had been on your to do list. I can't wait to see some growth in the redone display! I'll also be excited to see what you do with the softies and led's. Keep the great pictures coming.

Still need Pro Bio S, and SPS food...lol.... Should be good until next year on carbon, zeolites, and Phos -, :)

Cait wait to see all the corals on the 2016 Perryscape. :D

Thanks Sahin, and I appreciate your stopping by as well, I am too excited about the new display, a work in progress my friend :)

The new scape looks great, a perfect way to display all your nice corals. I really like that unknown frag. Lots of potential in that one!

Cool aquascape perry,worth the trouble:beer:
Has a natural look in a wide way:)

Trying for 20 mins to pull that RR stag out of the screen and place it in my tank, but i can't:(
The unknown(that would be a really cool name) is awesome indeed!

Good start with the AF products:thumbsup:

Thanks Mike, always nice to see you check in too :) I must say, I have a nice list of some kick as$ acros that will be coming in soon... Here is the list off the top of my head :)

1. JF Sour Twist
2. Copps Miyagi
3. Snipersps Bubblegum Milli
4. BC Bananas Lokani
5. BC Rainbows Over Spain
6. PC Rainbow

I will also have a few non-named frags as well. Working part time at the LFS has got me some goodies!!! Fortunately for me, they want a back up plan, so fragging me corals will back them up in case of an unforeseen issue

These guys are wise having a back up plan that involves you buddy:beer:

Can't wait for the next photo storm and new acros!

Hi Perry

Nice new rocks rearrangement in the tank. All those frags and mini colonies are very colorful. Now glue them and let it growth. Tank will look great in one year !!!! In the meantime enjoy watching the guys growing.

Cheers
Daniel

They're lucky, really, to have an employee like you willing to make that sacrifice:lol:

Mike,
Thanks buddy for a very gracious compliment, hopefully before next week I will have some new corals to share, I brought home a pinkish tenius yesterday, at least that is what it looks like, we shall see, lol...

Thanks Daniel,
I will be starting to move corals over in Feb, at this point, I will SLOWLY mount each one in the most ideal location possible. This will be based on lineage, color, and growth patterns. Hopefully I will be able to blend the corals with proper contrasting, fingers crossed anyway...

They're lucky, really, to have an employee like you willing to make that sacrifice:lol:

Ha, Ha, LOL...
Yeah, it is a pretty cool relationship that we are building, they respect me as I have always respected their biz practices... They reached out to me originally, it happened to be a week before the restaurant caught fire, so the timing was epic! Everyday they are like, here, take this and see what you can do with it, they also got me a DEAL on the AF stuff, so needless to say I am pretty stoked. How is the AF program going? The salt is pretty amazing, lot #, test analyst id, mixing ratios, and the salt mixed within 10 minutes using a MJ400 no stirring! I also smelled all the supps, I can tell the ingredients are lab grade for sure. None, including the NP Pro did not have any acetic acid smell, still have not got the Pro Bios S though. The coral food v definitely smells like vitamins and e had very distinct smell of foods that reminded me of CV or prodobio reef booster, just a few things that came to mind.

Nice set up! Nothing like working for the dealer who supplies your fix!!
Done it myself... :)
Can't wait to see all the new frags going in your aqua forest!
Very nice, Perry.

Very nice, Perry.

I did that with my first reef tank- it's how I got acros back in 1991. No store would grab them but they were at the distributors.
