Perry's 120 Gallon Reef

thanks, Perry.
It's very interesting how some corals darken and some lighten.
very cool watching the transition..

every summer, we get the Grand Prix here. Over the course of 4 days, the city fills up with absurdly rich europeans and and crazy partiers.
You can hear the cars racing about 5 miles away from the track and the city probably makes about a cabillion dollars that weekend... but you can't go downtown or you'll never get back out!
We try to go out of town that weekend..

Matt, yep glad that weekend is over, now 75th anniversary of Daytona Bike Week up and coming, already a bunch of bikers on the road. That week is going to be insane :) Anyway, I did up the Coral E to 8 drops, I have already noticed some color shifting, so while it is not aggressive, if you exceed dosing amount, will alter tissue colors. Anyway, I feel like trying to get some pics today, hopefully I can show some good colors, lol...
Thanks,

Perry things are looking rich and gorgeous as usual :inlove: I have to say you're definitely a big inspiration to me with the quality of your tank :)

Sounds like an amazing plan and it's even better timing because I can watch your tank progress with a new and intense anthias load in preparation for potentially doing the same in my end of the world!! ;) Can't wait to see and hear how they go!

Dom thanks so much, the tank definitely looks WAY better with the fish addition, so far all 5 anthias are hanging in there and school well. They have established their pecking order, relevant by their tails and fins being nipped. I will be adding 10 more females and a male lyretail over the next couple of weeks. This will give me a much better BFC, and the tank will have a ton more energy, looking forward to it myself :) Thanks as always for the kind words Dom, it is very much appreciated!

How high is your light above the water line?
Also how many fishes do you have in there now?

thanks

Lights are 6" above water surface. Right now I have 8 fish, that will be increased greatly over the next upcoming weeks, I am going to have an anthias dominated acro inspired tank, that is the plan anyway :) Thanks for checking up on the thread, I know your username from way back, good to see you around :)

Looking nice Perry! Glad to see the AF is working well for you, I have been stalking this thread and a few others regarding those products as I switch my tank to a more SPS tank I mig implement the product in mine.
Question regarding the addition of all the Anthias, "Do you have an auto feeder, or how do you plan to feed them frequently in small doses?"

Corey

Love it, Perry!
Looking sweet.

Thanks Matt!!!

Looking good Perry! Love the color of your corals and the color the Anthias add to the reef!

Thanks ObMattKenobe!!!

Amazing colors! Love it! :)

Thank you very much, I am stoked you like it!

Corey,
Thanks for following along, yeah I am loving the AF program, almost 2 months and growth and color are booming... As far as the anthias go, I hand feed 3 times per day frozen, Larry's Reef Frenzy, and PE mysis. I sort of alternate foods. I think this should do it, but if I see any health decline, I will also start with pellets on a timer. I have taught my girlfriend to feed, so she also helps out and feeds too. Actually seeing an increase in color saturation since the additions and feedings. Thanks for stopping by!

Holy smokes! Each set of pics look better than the last!!
I love that ice tort!!! I must have it!!!
The bubble gum Millie is going bonkers and the red robin is also crazy..
Hawkins... Mmmmm..
Red planet also..
I see both a pastelling and also an intensification of some colors at the same time...
Very, very interesting watching you and Matt Aquaforestize.. :)

I figured you would see better coloration with more feedings. Do you space your feedings out or how do you do that? I ask because I love anthias but I'm not home to hand feed them 3 times a day. But if I could feed them three times in evening or something that might work. (With the list still on of course) are you getting different species of anthias?

Corey

One day my Hawkins aspires to be like yours! I also love the red robin I really want to find a piece. Does it actually grow up like a stag like a green skimmer? If so I need it.. I want a red stag of some kind and that one is just pretty.

Everything is looking great, well done sir.

Thank you very much!

Ahhh.....Thanks Matt! The ice tort is pretty cool, I have pics from November and it does not even look the same, under the same lamps at the same depth in the same tank...hmmm.... I am in love with the bubblegum milli, it has so much potential. Really happy with the AF program, so easy to run...

Thanks Corey, I really have no specific feeding method, I feed the tank at lights before work, on the days I work, after work, then before bed. I also encourage my girlfriend to feed once sometimes twice per day. I walk by the tank and feed. My skimmer is rated for 450 gallons, so not to worry of increased nutrients, I could actually use elavating them a pinch, so the anthias idea seemed perfect for a high energy bare bottom reef, heavy feeding, heavy export. The best tanks I have seen seem to incorporate a similar method, regardless of husbandry, heavy skimming is always a plus.

Perry,

Your latest pictures look amazing.

Bulent, thanks for popping in buddy, I appreciate the kind words... Cheers!

Michael, thanks for the love man, I appreciate it! The hawkins is getting massive, I may have to frag it in the future, lol... The red robin does branch with longer stag like branches, but is is a slow grower for me. If you look at the last photo with the peach acro, you can see the branches in the left side of the pic as for reference. Thanks again!

@ OBMattKenobe, I thought you would like to see that, lol... This coral is going to be one of those special ones to keep a close eye on :)
