Perry's 120 Gallon Reef

Beautiful tank!

Thank you for looking things over, I appreciate the kind words!

Nice Perry. Really nice.
Talk about a box o crayolas.
I love the creamy rainbow you got going.
Do you have a pink lemonade down on the lower right - on its own rock as well as another pl up in the centre left?
Or is that your peach Acro up on the left?

LOL....Not quite to the deluxe box of crayolas like you Matt, but I will gratefully accept your kindness :) I have had a PL going for 8 months or so, it is in the top left, however, I had a larger base piece as well that I recently moved up to co-join with the frag, so now I have a mini-colony. The one you see down on the right is Shades of Fall Nasuta, which honestly looks nearly the same, but has a green base versus yellow. Same polyp color. The peach acro is on the right island between the RR and the bubblegum milli. I am trying to clean up the floor, I am getting pressure to add a sandbed. I would also like to add some wrasses, so we will have to see...

Perry really nice. I am up to like 250ml a day of each. It gets used up fast and I need to refill containers often. I now mix my own as you know (still using the AF dry powders though) so it's not as expensive as the pre mixed.
Had a question about the gyre, do you like it? How is maintenance on it?

Hello and thank you Michael,
Yes, the component is now 150, I will test again around 11:30 this am to get an accurate uptake measurement. I will adjust from there. The gyre works well in it's location, I only have it there due to running bb and getting the back to front flow to keep detritus in suspension. If I drop a sandbed in, I will likely have to pull pumps. I have the larger Korialla on the bottom right going across the tank, I have a tunze 6105, 2 vortech mp 40's and the Gyre 150, major flow in a 120, lol... I think the first generation had issues, mine has performed well. The heads pop off pretty easy to clean and put right back on, no sweat at all... The tunze is the difficult one to clean as the entire pump has to be removed. If I do get sand, it and the korilla will go...

Dang! That is looking really good! Very nice contrasting colors and shapes Perry:thumbsup:

Thanks Matt, I think the component system is giving me a real boost in coloration, only 10 days in, and with a cyano treatment, I am pretty happy about the direction. Corals all look so healthy...

Wow, your tank is really looking great. Your corals have amazing color and I love the placement. Excellent work Perry!

Thanks Conor, I am glad I took the time to place the corals with eventual shape and color formation in mind. I appreciate the kind words man!

Beautiful and inspiring! I like that there is an even color mix throughout the tank. There is not a theme of one dominant color.
Also, the two rock island landscape is very life like and is exactly the formation that you see while diving on reefs. It is going to be cool watching the reef evolve as the red, yellow, and blue/green on the left start bridging the gap and filling in towards the Ponape, pink, and lime on the right.

Thanks Kevin, I am glad you like the structure, at this rate it will fill in before the end of the year, I am ripping through the balling components, so I know the growth is booming right now. New light, new bulbs, and AF all have a share of helping the tank find the right balance. I am happy with the performance as of late :)

Awesome corals

Thanks Ryan!

Thanks Sprite! If you have questions or need any help with the system, message me ;)

Thanks for the offer. I may take you up on it. I waiting on my np- pro and a couple supplements right now. Quick question though. Do you refrigerate anything? I know the zeobac had to be, but not sure about the AF pro bio s

No problem sprite :)
So the bacteria/Pro Bio S does require refrigeration, I link a case of green cyano to my not doing so and overlooking the instructions. I would also refrigerate the coral e too, as it is a food source for corals in liquid form, very much similar to zeovits coral vitalizer.

Looking great Perry. I was a little worried about the cyano treatment but it looks like success without any damage and the tank is looking spectacular.

Too kind Dom! I am pretty happy that I got through the cyano treatment, and have returned quickly with coloration. Since dosing component system, I do feel the trace is giving me a boost. I am glad I could help to motivate you, you have a great gift in the hobby and plenty of success, so use that great knowledge and show the results, you got this Dom !!!
Colour has returned and with quite some enthusiasm I might add!! :D the latest shots are just even better Perry, the over look of the tank is just gorgeous :inlove: and the anthias are looking great :) You've definitely helped with your kind words and stunning tank!

Tank has gone to another level buddy, can't stop watching the pics:beer:
What a way to bounce back...pure inspiration and motives for us perry!!!
Will soon start the AF club...just to give you a small warning about me bombing you with ?'s :)

I am getting more and more jealous of those corals, just spectacular. Aqua forest, hmmm. do you mix and use it immediately thereafter.

Yep, I will not hesitate to do the cyano treatment again, hopefully not, but I have full confidence in this product with accordance with a bac driven system. No stress at all. Kudos and props to Boyd's products...

I thank you my friend, as long as the animals are happy I am happy:) I only wish for your tank and all others to be happy too... Cheers

Thank you very much for the kind words... I am still settling into the system but am seeing good results. We shall see.........

Perry, what's the big blue one up in the right corner? Definitely catches the eye!

Hey Mindy,
That is the ORA Cali Tort, it looks like the OT in my system, probably because it is so high up and receives a blasting of light daily. The green is sort of subdued because of the high par. I had 2 chunky frags down on the bottom of the tank that were stunning, they had a lot of green in the base. I made it a center piece because even though it is a Cali Tort, it is as blue as blue gets. In person it looks electric blue. I cannot get all the hues of blue it throws in pics :) Did you join the FB page yet for AF? Really simple and many good reads. Cheers :fish1:

Perry just a quick question for you. Is your component 1+ slightly milky/cloudy looking and not completely clear?

Michael,
Let me look into this... :reading:
Side note, I am settled for 3 days in a row at same alk. Today I will test again at 11:30AM, and if I get the same number, I will test all other parameters, and I will then bump the values if necessary. I am loving the balling method so far, mainly for trace, the colors are going to another level, I am completely stoked! I may need to get the powder forms, I have settled around 150ml per day, which is more than I was hoping for. Cheers

FTS looks awesome Perry! So do you think the improvement in colors with the components is just gradual/consistent dosing of trace at this point? Either way I'm glad to hear you're liking it!

Tim,
Thanks for looking things over, I do believe I am encountering another push in coloration, the only thing really new is that I have switched over to component 123. I have some top downs of corals I have been tracking, and some of those I have not yet shown. I think the colors are nice.
Cheers,

The tank is pushing the best colors I have seen to date, here are pics after now dialing in the component 123 system for AF.
Thanks,
